With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

I downloaded an OS X version of Marathon (alephone)... but it says I need to make sure that there's a "Sound File," a "Map file," a "Texture file," and what-not.... I looked at an FAQ, and it told me to go to source.bungie.org to figure out how to do this... Which is all fine and dandy, except that I can't get into the stupid site... Does anyone know how to help me so that I can play the sweet sweet goodness that is called Marathon?

It sounds like you've just downloaded Aleph One without actually getting any game files to use it with. No worries. If you don't own Marathon, you need M1A1 to play it with Aleph One. The Mac version is here, courtesy of the Lh'owon Ar'kives. To play M2 or M∞, you need the sound, map, images, etc files from those games. I'm not sure where you can get them from (the Mac Action Sack is no longer available), but at least you'll have Marathon. :)

Thanks, Reiginko, it works now (therefore, I am happy). Heh, mods aren't all that bad, after all.... At least they actually HELP people, unlike the rest of the forum groupies...

Har, har, har, Ginky. I'll remember that next time I get you voted off (again) the Bugie-survivor game known as Mafia. <Predator-esque laugh>

Anywho, how do I play multiplayer games on Marathon? Anything specific I have to do? Or is it supposed to take a long, long time to find another game? (Or is there no multiplayer in aleph one?)

Reiginko - now you need to learn how to turn yourself into a flock of crows and you're set!

Shai Hulud - Aleph One only searches for games on your local network, any games hosted on the net can only be joined by typing in the IP address of the server. The only way to know that is if you organised a game with someone beforehand.

There is a room on AIM where people organise games, but I don't know the details - a google search might help, and I believe it might be in one of the readmes.

Some people have tried to organise games on the forums, but I don't believe they have had much luck to date.

I my brothers and I make a time every few weekends to get together and play myth coop on playmyth, or marathon coop at one of our houses.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but Reiginko also needs his lips, and other organs removed, and he needs a stick with blades at both ends.

Once again, I'm several steps ahead of all of you. And that "stick" is called a scythe. And it only has a blade on one of the ends. And it's only my face and heart that I removed. :)

And I should probably finish with one more sentence starting with "and". =)
