Short Stories - SightCEing Part 1

While we work on the official Season 4 storyline I thought it was appropriate to go back to the Halo CE Chronicles' roots and release some short stories that feature the wonders of the Halo CE universe. The Halo CE Chronicles was originally conceived to expose people to the imaginative and expansive universe that was ONLY available through the custom content allowed in the Halo Custom Edition game. So join the Commander and Andrea as they compile the visual record of their autonomous probes and do a little SightCEing. You can download SightCEing part 1 from the Video section of the HCEC http://hcec/halomaps.org website. Enjoy

http://hcec.halomaps.org/news.cfm?nid=311

Note: The visuals in the SightCEing series are available nowhere else but through the Halo Custom Edition game.

LOL That's OK, I won't hold it against you. If you are not involved in Halo CE then you might not have heard of me or the series. Our audience tends to be a bit... older than the norm. :)

I've known about the Halo CE Chronicles, but I've never had the time to check them out.

I downloaded the SightCEing part 1 video already when they mentioned you on HBO.

I think I've watched seasons 1 & 2. I have to go back there and catch up.

Don't go there thinking its like Red v Blue, it's a lot different more like a drama, but it's good. Give it some time too, don't give up after the first five episodes.

BTW, what is the theme song from? What the name of that song?

Agreed. I like HCEC because it's more movie-like, where on the other hand RvB is more of a quick T.V. show. HCEC is not as funny as RvB, but it still keeps me entertained. I haven't watched a lot, I only watched Season 1 and wanted to watch the rest.

<smile> don't fall too far behind because season 4 is in production right now. Season 1 was an experiment to see what could be done, sometime around episode 7 I realised that I had a following and decided to write a complete story which turned into the episodes 10-21 that comprised season 2. I received so many emails asking for more, even though the story was done that I decided to produce Season three as a single 90 minute production and explore the interaction between the Marines and the Spartans. The Valley of the Forerunners was released in 11 parts and are not episodes that stand alone but continuations of the same story.

There was no attempt to write a comedy, this was always intended to be an exploration of two individuals and how together they could make each orther whole. The Commander is Not a spartan, even though he wears the armor, and is not like the the heroic Masterchief. The AI is not Cortana, she is a nascent AI and is one step up from a basic computer program.

Some people compare the HCEC to RVB which is like comparing apples to a chair. There was no atempt to emulate RVB, mainly because when I wrote the first story I had not heard of RVB. The HCEC is not for everyone and was intended to be a story line with emphasis on the characters and not on the action, or the joke, it was intended to make you think.

Unfortunately do to the total lack of grammatical construction, punctuation, spelling and syntax in your sentence I can not say the same. But that's OK because I suspect that the series may be a bit too mature for your liking. The story in the series is not about the Halo CE game itself, it is just the game platform I used to film it with.

LOL - Oh yee of little faith. Season 1 sets the background, season 2 tells the real story, season three expands on the characters and season 4 has yet to be told. If you don't have an attention span it may not be for you and knew it going in.

I like it, but it would be nice if there was somewhere that gave the names of all the maps used. Or have I just not watched far enough yet? All I watched is the SightCEing, and it was great.

Edit: Lol, Mostly Harmless

It all depends on the format and size you download. Assuming you get the 320X240 sizes in Windows media format then the size is about 800meg. If you watch the flash movie format then the size is about 300meg. There is about 3.5 hours of running time total. Not something to sit and wach all at once. The Valley of the Forerunner feature is 90 minuts long. The rest is broken up in episodes.
like it, but it would be nice if there was somewhere that gave the names of all the maps used.In the series the map names are in all the credits. For the SightCEing series I purposly left off the map names to make people look for them or ask about the game. They are a different style of video from the rest in that they were designed to show off the maps. The rest of the series is the untold story about the characters, the two misfits - The Commander who is NOT a Spartan although he wears he armor and the AI who is nascent and one step up from a Station control program, stuck on the first ring world found by man. The story pre-dates the Halo story by 30 years. The story concentrates on character development more than on battle scenes. As Louis Wu has said: "Proof that Halo machinima doesn't have to be all about blowing stuff up. " We do blow a few things up though :)

So, sorry for the thread bump, but I was just trying out the Search Feature, and I wanted to get the 2nd season of the Ce Chronicles. I wouldn't have posted, except I saw a quote from someone named Louis Wu in UXB's post. Louis Wu? Am I the only one that gets that?

Teh Expalnation: In the book Ringworld, Louis Wu is a character who travels into space and discovers an ancient "Halo" world, 93 million miles across, and revolving around a star like our own. It's pretty much where the idea for Halo came from. That may not seem too interesting, but I'm just suprised anyone besides me read it. You should. It's very interesting.

Ok cool. I have seen all your episodes so far and think they are good. The only think I don't like is how some times there is a rather large time gap in-between lines during conversations in the series. Other than that, great use of Halo CE and a great story line. When is the next installment in the series going to be released?
