Ah, look at the lonely people...

I like it. It would certainly lead to "zOMG TEH BAR MOVEDZORZ" posts, but maybe they could threaten a lifetime blacklist for posts like that. :P

As nice as it is to see your enthusiasm, this technically isn't the right place to be posting this. Rest assured if there are any Bungie staff frequenting the forums they will probably visit the Halo 3 forum, for Halo 3 ideas ;)

But this is about the site itself, not Halo 3, so technically it does belong here...right?

Can you honestly say you'd be willing to look at a status bar every day (or perhaps week) to see how close the game is to completion? Do you realize how many people (perhaps including yourself [you never know]) would go crazy about the status of the status bar? It almost sounds as bad as setting a ballpark release date then missing it. Almost.

I think this is the place for it. It involves changing the site, and doing so involves cooperation from both the Halo 3 and Web Teams. I really hope this idea gets at least commented on by Achronos especially.

Hmm yeah, actually that is quite true. A status bar to game completion would be nice. Apologies for the first post ;)

No need to apologize, you did nothing wrong.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how well it would work out.

Have you ever been downloading something, and the estimated time started going up instead of down? If you have, you were probably slightly annoyed, even if you're used to that kind of thing. Now imagine that Bungie decided they wanted to add something else, so they had to push things back. Can you imagine the response if Bungie moved one of the bars backwards? It wouldn't be good. To avoid this, they might decide not to update the bar, and just leave it. But if they did that, what's the point if it isn't accurate?

Just my opinion.

No I actually misread it, I thought the OP was about status bars for Halo 3 live. But in keeping with this topic, I imagine Bungie already has a tight enough schedule as it is, so although it might seem cool for us, a visual representation of progress to them may seem like... too much.

Wow, longest running sentence. Ever.

Well, it would be nice if we could get a yes or no, that way we know whether to pursue this or not.

I hope Achronos sees this. I would rather get a no than nothing at all :D
He will answer to us eventually, he is busy you know, training his Monkey.

However, should he not answer for a few days, go ahead and message him privately. He will likely answer you then, Achronos is a nice guy if you don't break any rules.

We could get all hyped up, and have our hearts broken.

Remeber Valve with Half-Life 2? A week before launch, they got their whole playable game stolen, and it circulated on the internet. They had to delay it for a long time.

NOBODY STEAL HALO 3 OR ELSE.

If you see a post they have made, you can hit the 'msg user' button. Or you can got to their profile page, and do the same.

I doubt Bungie would consider this, since they won't even offer ballpark release dates. Too many people get worked up. You never know, though, I guess.

It's a site suggestion, therefore it belongs in the Septagon.

People would grow impatient if it doesn't move for a while. They'll start post stuff like: "omg w7f it5 n0t moV1ng heilo 3 15 [4/\/(3113D!!!1". It'd get pretty nasty, me thinks.

V Vendetta.. please READ The posts BEFORE critisizing...

It belongs here.

Dont call for achronos, it makes you sound slightly.. "n word".

He comes when he wishes.

Now, bungie has said multiple times what their deal with release dates is. This is the SAME sort of thing. It wont happen because quite often some of thebar would be erased.

Bungie, from past experiences, no longer does the whole "release date" routine until they are 100% certain it will be met.

Black and White. Cut and Dry.

In the event that Bungie should choose to do this, I know they would play cruel jokes on us by lowering the bar. We are not asking for a release date, we are asking for development status show visually. I agree, I'd rather get a "No" than nothing at all.

  • 08.07.2006 11:21 PM PDT

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

But that would ruin the whole "Hey look, we're super secretive" thing they've got going on. I mean c'mon, almost 3 months since announcement and not a single screen. Now that's secretive. Way to go, Bungie!

I don't like the whole rank thing or anything that could possibly go along with it. I dont know exactly what you would be tracking Multiplayer wise besides that.

Bungie does not take ideas thrown to them by the fans, so even if you do want it chances are it isn't going to end up in the game unless you just happened to think of something they had already planned to put into the game.

I'm not exactly sure if you understand the idea. He is saying that there is a progress bar somewhere that says how far along the team is with Halo 3. Sort of like when you download or install something, only the bar changes when people do work, and has the potential to go backwards.

Damn did i get mixed up, I thought he was refering to IN game as how far you have progressed in Mutliplayer. Sorry about that Topic creater, I thought you were refering to something completely different.
