i need to know if there is anyway to play halo on a laptop without Direct3D...i don't care if the graphics, color, and picture is going to be poor/distorted. my dad takes me to office job every day (booorrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnggggg!!!!!!!!!!) and all im left with is a crummy laptop!!! (really old too)
a message keeps popping up saying something similar to "Direct3D acceceleration is not enabled to play the game..." and there is an non-optionable 'exit' button. is there a way i could disable this and co-exist with the poor graphics? i don't want to play the game as much as i want to test my mods.

Well according to every expert i go to Direct3D acelleration is a TYPE of video graphics card (most modern) and with desktop computers the card is plug in/plug out. with laptops it is built into the main big board and not upgradable!!! Is there any way i can get D3D without upgrading the chip?????(software-ely!)

Well, your laptop must be REALLY old not to have D3D acceleration, and seeing as Halo runs on hardware accelerated Directx, I see no way of making halo running is software mode at all.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

it's possible that you just need drivers for your video card(check your manufacturer's site), unless your laptop is just that old(i doubt it.)

We need the specs of your laptop before we are able to help you.

Usually, you need at least a moderate-end graphics card in order to run Halo. Depending on the age of your computer, it might have a really early GPU, meaning chances of running Halo are close to zero.

You can check for new drivers for your GPU if you go to their website and download it, but it won't help much if your GPU can't support Halo to begin with.

1. Right-click on desktop.

2. Go to Properties.

3. Go to the Settings tab.

4. Find and click "Advanced".

5. FInd the Troubleshoot tab.

6. Check if hardware acceleration is fully enabled. If it's not, or if the slider is to the far left, then D3D has been disabled.

Give this a shot.
