I have gotten a brand new laptop and have so far loved it. I have ran Halo with all settings Maxed, and Far Cry with a medium and low settings. I still have Counter Strike 1 and CS:CZ to install and I do hope they work. They seem a bit outdated...anyway, I do have a little problem. The mouse. You know the finger mouse thing? I don't like that. Kind of hard to aim and move at the same time. So what CHEAP gaming mouse should I get? I have possibly around $100 to spare, but I'm using money for G.R.A.W on 360(my xbox live friends are technically making me get it), and Oblivion for the PC as well. Wired or Wireless, I don't care. As long as its good for gaming.

I have heard some things about Battlefield 2 not working well on a Centrino processor. And unfortunately, I have a Centrino Core Duo T2600 2.16 GHz processor. So can someone tell me if this is a true statement?

And finally, Oblivion. Good ole Oblivion. I am worried about what settings it will run on. I have 256MB GeForce 7900 GS Go graphics card. Will it run on low, medium or high?

And just in case, heres all of my laptops specs:
Dell Inspirion E1705
Dell Centrino Duo 2.16 GHz processor
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA 256MB GeForce 7900 GS Go
80GB 7200rpm HD
Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

Thanks in advance:)

Sounds a bit like my specs, and I run Halo on high, so I'll assume it'll run (Oblivion) on high. BTW, this isn't about HPC. ;) Hope it works!

EDIT: I don't know much about wireless mice or BF2 myths/rumors, so I can't help you there, sorry.

You're not comfortable with the touchpad interface? You really didn't think about buying a mouse before? That's a giant oversight on your part, friend. Dude, first off, though I recommend buying GRAW as it is a game that justifies your $400 console purchase, I think you should hold off buying GRAW for a little bit and spend a great gaming mouse.

I use Microsoft's Laser Mouse 6000 of the Precision Gaming Series and I bought it around $49.99 or so at CompUSA. It's an awesome, precision mouse that you'll love as I am currently wondering how I ever fragged noobs without this mouse. It's only around $49.99, and since GRAW is around $59.99, just save up an extra ten bucks or so, and you'll have enough money for GRAW and a good mouse.

Hrm. Laptops were never meant for serious gaming. And BF2/Oblivion fall into the category of serious gaming. Serious gaming is reserved only for the most advanced laptops and for desktops.

I fully suggest getting a wired mouse...I have a wireless setup, and it does NOT work well for me. It adds on to the problems I already have with the atrocious lag I get from using only 380MB RAM.

I would go with a reputable brand like Microsoft or Logitech...they make reliable, sturdy mouse that usually fit within your budget. If you're looking for precision, go with laser, if you just want an all-around, stick with optical...it's cheaper.

Thanks, but that still does not answer the BF2 and Oblivion questions.

Kim, I did know I would have to get a mouse sooner or later, but I didn't know how hard it was to use with the touchpad thing.

And to the person who said that Laptops are bad for gaming:I seem to not have any problems with my Laptop concerning games. Halo and Far Cry run and look great with little lag on this laptop. And I'm hoping other games will do the same.

That last person would be me. Trust me, you'll see the downsides of it when more computer intensive games, and when newer, faster processors and GPUs come out. Laptops are built to be portable, obviously, but in doing so they sacrifice upgradeability. I have been a laptop user for 6 years now, and I know this from experience: if you're planning on doing serious gaming, get a desktop to supplement your laptop, cause in a few years your laptop will be outdated and obsolete.

It's true. If you want a gaming laptop that is equal to the most powerful gaming desktop PC market today, you're going to have to pay almost twice as much as you would for the desktop PC.

Now, Trigger, I understand since you're still very new to graphics that are actually good, since you've been living on an integrated chipset for a while before you got your GeForce 6200 for your PC, and I know your laptop seems like an awesome machine that will last forever, but it won't.

Sure, your laptop may have more gaming power than my desktop PC right now, but in less than a few years, I'm going to be rocking out with the latest CPU and GPUs while handling the most graphically intensive, the most newest games on the market, while your laptop will become obsolete, and with PC technology developing faster and more advanced as time goes by, you're going to wish you spent money on a desktop.

And for the last time, your hardware has nothing to do with lag, your connection does.
