Is it just me, or are there more people who camp/spawn kill? On several CTF servers, I found 2 or 3 people camping my base, especially on certain maps. On Ice Fields, 2 guys with rods/pistols ran around on top of the base, not even trying to capture the flag. On Death Island, they had a tank in front of our base, a guy camping our sniper, and 2 banshees flying around the base. They got 3 captures easily while we were stuck in our base. On Sidewinder, they had a sniper on the ledges and 1 or 2 guys with heavies on the top of our base, not going for the flag. On Danger Canyon, they camped the tunnel with rods. When I asked why they were camping, they called it strategy, and during the postgame they were like "OMG!!! WE PWNED U N**BS!!!" Even most of their team told them to stop camping, but they never listened. Is this happening more often or was it just a fluke?

Well, since you bring the topic up, I have a few words to say to anti-spawn killers:

To start things off, spawn camping is a basic beauty of war. I know this sounds pathetic, but hear me out. If you were a general, or a field marshall, right smack in the middle of a war, a certain decision will come through your mind. Your reconnaissance unit picked up sightings of enemy bases planted right in the middle of nowhere. You decide to put in some sniper units outside of this "nowhereville", and if anyone gets out, kill without hesitation. THAT my friend, is basically "camping", preventing the enemy from moving from his or her current position, and eliminating them before they can say cheese in front of the sniper rifle scopes.

So the point is, don't you WANT your team to have the advantages? Don't you want to have that perfect oppurtunity to seige the crap out of the enemy's base? In real life, just as you would in a game, you would take that oppurtunity, right from the enemy's mistake of coming out from the FRONT entrance (I mean DU'H, coming out from the front and the most obvious entry, vunerable to sniper fire, definitely means you want to die early). Ok, so it's unfair that they stuff an armor piercing lead right through your head just when you respawned, but that's the enemy's tactics, not yours. The enemy doesn't care if you guys are losing; isn't that the whole point of a simple battle? Hold your enemies down 'till they rasie the white flag.

Folks, I understand that spawn campers are a pretty big nuisance, hell, even I get annoyed by them several times, but it's your responsibility to make sure those spawn campers are dead.

I guess that concludes my speech. Feel free to flame me if you disagree with anything I have just said.

to survive camping, such as on bg, try taking portals. I love flanking someone from their 6 when they spawn camp our base and then take em out with a pistol.

I also just LOVE when the whole blue team is at red base, and they leave a vehicle at their base, so I tell my team to just not kill anyone, and I grab the enemies flag, run everyone over, and score.

O pssh stop complaining about camping its a legitimate stratagy. If you can't beat them while they're camping it means 1. you're bad or 2. your team is bad.

What I HATE more than anything else are teamkillers, people who tk you and steal your flag. And the most recent ( I just had a game with one of these) people who switch teams, kill the flag carrier and run it back to thier original teams. God I wish he died right then.

THANK you. As t3heford said, camping is basic strategy which requires immense teamwork if you want to spawnkill 8 players at once. I mean one measly spawn camper can't possibly kill everyone on the red/blue team just as they respawn. He's good as dead right there.

What I do is try to get as far aways as I can to the base and take them out with my pistol, that or say something, so they reply, and while they type, kill them. Sure, sounds n00b, but it is also n00b when you just sit there at a base with a full supply of rockets not trying to get flag...

Yes camping is annoying. No it is not cheating. As t3heford said it is a legitimate strategy. On Death Island they figured a way to keep u guys from getting their flag while grabbing yours while you were respawning. That is the point of the game so deal with it.

Ah, the good ol' type kill, I find this tactic very amusing, and yet, very original. I never do it myself, and I am being honest. I find it unfair to kill someone while they're typing, so I always wait for them to finish their novels, then I pwn them. But unless they're typing rants, that's a different story. I do not hesitate to burst their brains right on the spot in that situation. xP

Some people play for fun, not to win, and spawncamping ruins their fun.

Actually, it's possible for one person to hold down an entire base: A year back, on a 6v6 on Sidewinder one guy managed to 'suppress' my entire team with a fuel rod - EVERY time I spawned he'd be there, fuel rod in hand. Our grenades didn't even get past the green explosions and flew back towards us. Pistol shots were next to impossible, as by the time we had switched weapons we were a second away from dying, and the guy managed to hold us like that for 5 full minutes until we managed to suicide nade him to death - I think he may also have run out of rod ammo. He stated "My work here is done" and quit, but he had something like 50 + kills and 1 death, while his teammates took two flags.

I don't remember his name, but I was left in amazement at his skills (and also very pissed off). That person was truly worthy of being called a camping SOB rod whore.

Tips: If someone is "in ur base killin ur doods" get out of the base, and take them on from afar - pistols and snipers. Works well.
