"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."- John F. Kennedy

They folded out of the system immediately
after I received the message, without so
much as a "Thanks for saving us from
becoming plasma on Tau Ceti, Durandal".

Umm....there is a PM system.

I don't think it's necessary. Everyone already has an email adress anyway, so why go clogging up the servers?

yeah um, i don't really remember saying game site. so maybe you should really digest what people are saying before you go and try to be sarcastic.

if they got more bandwith (if that's possible, im sure they're already using a ton!) it wouldnt "clog up the servers" as you say.

This idea seems pointless and unnecessary, to me at least. PMs are easy to send, and most people's contact details can be found either in their profile, or can be obtained by asking for them.

FINE THEN THANKS FOR REJECTING A PERFECTLY GOOD IDEA! I WAS JUST TRYING TO THINK OF WAYS TO IMPROVE SOMETHING. NEXT TIME I'LL JUST KEEP MY IDEAS TO MYSELF BECAUSE NO ONE LIKES CHANGES. DAMMIT!

well, for one, this belongs in the septagon, and also, since everyone had to give an Email adress to get in, then they already have one. Therefore there is no need to Bungie to waste time.

I think that Bungie should incorporate an e-mail feature into their website. I mean, pretty much every other established site has an e-mail feature. I don't know if their server has this feature, but it would be cool. Just a suggestion.

I think rather than having an actual email address, some people like to keep their email addresses hidden. But sometimes members have important things to tell them, so what it would do, it'd be like a PM, except it would send to the inbox of the person and then in the email it would say that it was from the Ideal BB boards, or from Bungie.net.

We have this feature on our Ideal Science boards at Games in Action, don't know why Bungie didn't put it in theirs'.

A few points:

* This is a ludicrous idea. The worst part is that it's not the first time it's been suggested. I mean, does the whole "Game studio offers free webmail service" concept not scream "non sequitur" at you?
* x@bungie.net/bungie.com is an exclusive thing for Bungie employees. I remember that a long time ago, one of the moderators (who shall remain nameless, partly because I don't wish humiliation on others, and also the fact that even my memory is fallible) suggested bungie.com or bungie.net emails for the mods. We were told "No, you aren't employees, you little upstarts. And no, you can't have any more gruel". Or something along those lines.
* We were also informed that it was (for some reason) difficult to create new bungie.com email addresses, which is presumably why most post-Microsoft employees use x@microsoft.com emails rather than x@bungie.com. Sure, if Bungie wanted to make a free webmail service, then they could conceivably spend time and money getting around this problem, but that's a lot of effort that could be put into, say, a search tool for the forums.

So, yeah, wtf?

it was you, wasn't it?

but honestly, I had to give an Email adress to sign up, why would I want anymore Email adresses?

It is an interesting idea, that way you don't have to give your E-mail to someone you don't know. Oh, and a Awesome, white colored font Ninja has spoken!

Ach! Was ist los?

We don't need Bungie.net email accounts. The system would consume massive amounts of bandwidth and disk space, while being little more than an open invitation for abuse.
