I've noticed that their have been daily posts asking how to turn text into links, and to be honest its bugging the hell out of me. So I'd like to welcome you to...

Death's Text Markup Tag Workshop!

Now keep in mind if you ever find yourself lost in todays lesson, you can find the same information to the right of text box you get when your replying to a message.

I honestly couldnt be making it any clearer

So lets start with B.nets top FAQ. Thats of course frequently asked question for those of you who are accroynm challenged. (holds for laughter.)

but seriously people a lot of you have been asking how to make links

There are two differnt ways to make a link.

Theres what i call the ugly way where the link is just a clickable copy of the sites adress such as

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/topics.aspx?forumID=3

To do this simply type in

Than the adress

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/topics.aspx?forumID=3

Then close it off with a the end result should look like

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/topics.aspx?forumID=3

Also remember that the link will only work if the adress starts with http://

So theres your link. How ever if you want to clean it up a bit try the following code to replace that big ugly string of an adress into a word of your choice.

How to make named links

once again start out with

Notice how the adress is in the brackets and there is an equal sign in between where it says url and and the adress.

so far you should have

Next to witch you will now type in the word you want to be clicked to take the person to their adress.

Finish off the same way you would a normal link.

The end result should hopefully look like this

And that is how you make all forms of links. Thanks for reading, and i hope you enjoy reading it as i sure enjoyed wasting twenty minnutes typing it.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

Very nice...but you could just tell them to look at the -blam!- text markup tags for once...either way works. Nice job!

Yeah since it is up there i'm not expecting to get this stickied or anything but if one new member logs in and sees this and it prevents him from asking how to make links, by god it will all of been worth it.

Doh!

Perhaps ill update it later if enough people ask how to bold words. It's kind sad that people need to ask though. I mean as I am typing this post there is a guide right next to the text box explaining all this already!
