Hey, I was thinking of downloading this, and was just wondering, does anybody here play Halo on Xbox Connect? Are there generally a lot of players? There seem to be a lot of Halo 2 servers when I checked all the hosts, but very few Halo 1 servers.

yes you can, check out http://www.xbconnect.com and read abou it

going back to the first post-at some times of the day there are very few servers but if you get on at the right time there can be plenty to give you a good selection, and the great thing is, if you cant find a good room to join, you can just make your own

I like Halo.

Be prepared for some serious pwntastic lag with Halo 1 on xbc. If you're used to playing online shooters that require leading the character about .5 seconds ahead of his movement, you're ahead of the game.

Don't get me wrong though... it's still a blast. I was about to bust one when I figured out how to play Halo online (before H2 was on the shelves).

its not too laggy as long as you can find a decent host or someone who's somewhat close to where you live, otherwise if you dont like the lag or cant stand it you can host (on your host you have no lag at all, although those in your room still have it)

Unless you give playing off host a fair chance you won't like it at all. It takes practice and getting used to. But believe me, It's very possible to own people off host.

Me and my friends still play H1 on XBC on weekends. A big part of the lag problem is that a lot of people try to play as singles. So, instead of playing a box of 2 or 3, you end up with 4 boxes all trying to talk to each other. Do yourself a favor and have a friend over. It will be much easier to find a good game.

I set up Xlink Kai, loved it for Halo 2 (although there are some punks, cheaters and and modders - but you see that on LIVE to! :-) ). No one's ever on the Halo 1 server. Pass the word around - this service is free! I'd like to get something going, scedule some matches.

about that thing in your sig, who cares of halo 2 is noobified, it makes it more fun that way cause worse players could do better making closer matches

It's the reason I don't like halo 2 as much as halo 1, just sharing my opinion.

Good job stealing someone elses thread and going completely off subject.

Remember, Halo: Combat Evolved wasn't intended to be played online, only on LAN. So it won't be as 'smooth' as Halo 2 on Xbox Live.

Yeah it is harder to get used to the lag and be prepared to get booted from games until you're better but man its fun. But for some reason whenever I open it up it always says "HNERR_ADAPTER_NOT_OPENED". Anyone know what this means? I can't join up in certain peoples rooms and the few rooms I can join in I usually get booted or I hate the gametype.

I seriously needed to update my signature. I'll never forget it, though.

I set up a post to find out what one is best to find a game though.

xbc is much better than xlink, xbc is free as well (you can get an upgraded version if you want to for $15...it only has custom kicks and some other random unneeded stuff), it has a much larger support with many more players, it has a dedicated help channel and also has a great support staff, not to mention it generally has less lag than xlink kai
