i think bungie should add an option to sort the threads by the number of replies
i'm suprised that bungie hasn't added this feature, maybe they are too busy making halo 3 ;-) (not a bad thing)

locked threads should be filtered out when sorting by the number of replies.

*one more thing when a thread is moved to another section of the forum it should tell us where it's moved to instead of this post has been moved to another forum

*and plz explain y this is not a good idea =)
thank you for reading this post

Well, it's sort of like that already. When a thread gets a new post, it's bumped to the top. Topics that die or are dying, fall to the bottom of the page or list.
If they where sorted my numbers, locked threads that had alot of posts would stay there and take up space while good threads that don't get as many posts would be at the bottom and nowone would see them.

true but by sorting the threads by the no. of replies u can easily tell which one has more attention and therefore more interesting(most of the time)

and to aviod getting a "flaming" thread that's like on page 200 i think sorting the threads should only have a range of say 10 pages

o andi forgot to add that locked threads should be filtered out when sorting by the number of replies.

The system works fine as it is. There's no need to give already popular threads more attention than they already have. Then you'd end up with people spamming their threads with replies so that it moves up some pages just so people can even read the thread.

Eh. No thanks.

Popular does not always mean quality. A lot of the times I find myself responding to newly created threads over the massively large ones since, usually, large threads have already been discussed to death and have degraded to spam and chat drivel.

Agreed. This in turn leads to repeat threads being made, because people start thinking: "That Thread recieved 236 replies......lemme change this word and sentence and make one just like it!"

I understand people want to be heard, and noticed. But making threads that are identical just seems like a lame cry for attention. And chances are those threads will also be full of mindless drivel.

so ur saying my system would work if there aren't so many spammer/flammers?!
Forumes aren't as great as they used to be, before halo 2 came out the forumes were great, it was a place where fans could discuss their ideas and theories and u almost never see posts like "hey /\/\an that's the dumbest blam i've ever heard" or "ur theory sucks u should check out this one..."

and i agree that the most popular threads aren't the best except for few, most "burning" threads tend to get off topic and transform from a statement/question/theory to a debate about something then to a fight between a few immature blams

this better change soon...

The Halo 3 developers have little, if nothing to do with what gets updated in the site. That job belongs to Achronos and the rest of the web team.

Also they have already confirmed that a Search function is on the way.

thank you for pointing that out , yes the search function has long been promised but we have yet to see it emerge from the "ashes"

how hard would it be to add a search function?!

It all depends on how good a job it does. The search feature that finds GamerTags is good, as well as the People Finder. But the one on the front page that searches for News.......doesn't really work at all.

So I suppose it depends. Achronos is currently working on adding a search feature to the forums, so repeat threads are a thing of the past. And there will be one added to the Classifieds, and it will be strictly enforced. I hear that anyone who so much as duplicates an ad will be perma-banned, so things may get a little tighter around here.

You see that bar that sticks out? (It says "Games" "Stats" "Community", etc) Well I hear that one is going away as well, or it will be moved to a more convienient spot. I recommend they just add it to the box that has the Gallery, Flood, Classifieds, etc. Or make it its own box, with links and sub-links.

Join dates are being removed from immidiate view, and will be placed in the user's profile.

Yeah, Achronos is one busy guy. I'm already looking forward to these changes ^_^
