I think youa are ignoring what he said. He said he saw it on Mail Call. Now, I saw that episode too. There was an ICB designed in the '60s called the Mark VI. You aren't answering his question.

I didn't think that I was ignoring it. I will try to be more clear. There were and are many pieces of military hardware with "Mark" designations. It is however, usually used as a suffix to seperate versions of the same device.

Another method is to add an Alpha character to the end, to designate a variant. Like the F-15A/B, F-15E, and F-15G. All of them are "Eagles", but they are air superiority, strike, and wild weasel variants respectively.

I am not aware of any ICBMs or nuke devices that were designated solely "Mark IV". I could be mistaken though.

his not ignoring the question... the question was " do you have any theories?" and his answer is, just because it has "Mark" in its name, doesnt mean that they are linked in any way. therefor, there is nothing to theorize about...

^^yah what they said. the mark IV nuke has nothing to do with halo. just as the HK Socom (mark 23) has nothing to do with halo. the 'mark' is to give it an authentically military feel.

You are correct. The term "Mark" followed by a number is to designate a new revision or version of hardware. Example, a Havoc Tactical Nuke Mk II is the 2nd version of the device.

In the case of Marathon and Halo, it's a bit of a "link" or parallel between the two universes.

* Marathon: The player character is "hinted" to be the last surviving Mark IV Mjolnir Cyborg.

* Halo: The Spartans are cyborgs that are equipped with (in Halo) Mark V Mjolnir Arrmor and (in Halo 2) Mark VI Mjolnir Armor.

For some, that is a clue towards a link, for others it is mearly a tip of the hat to an old-school game, for many, it is the tip of the iceberg that leads to many sleepless nights spent pondering.

Maybe 'surviving' isn't a proper word -- were they ever confirmed dead after Tau Ceti ?

There is a real Mark VI suit out there...its called the Ursus Mark VI suit...It cost $150,000 thousand dollars to make and it was made to study Grizzy bears from upclose. It could supposedly withstand bear attacks, being hit by a truck, logs, bullets, knives and a whole bunch of other crap. It was heavy duty to say the least.
