well some guy posted a thread yesterday and claimed he had that info, he said 24 levels, 16 on earth, 2 on the moon, and 6 on another halo ring. i think that info is false for 2 reasons
1) he forgot to mention the covenant home world which bungie has said will be in the game
2) 24 levels is quite a bit considering halo was only 10 levels
i think halo 2 will be about the same length as the first, maybe a bit more but not 24 levels as this guy thought

Halo 2 is gonna rock no matter how long it is thanks to Xbox Live. If people want more missions, thats what content download is for. Another interesting thing they could do is if/when Halo 3 is coming out they can release content for Xbox Live for hints about the story for Halo 3. Mmmmmmmm............

but the only thing is that bungiew should bring in the halo ring worlds again to help them save earth or something because that would make an awesome scene where the Halo obliterated the covenant homeworld

I would say about 25-30 hours of single player, and about 9,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 ,999,999,999,999,999,999 hours of XBL time.

They said it will be approximatley as long as the first Halo.

They said about as long as Halo- maybe a little longer.

The War will wage forever; though with it's fury comes a peace that you will never know here.

Frankly, I'd like to see more than 10 levels. I was hoping more along the lines of 20-30 levels.

But, as we all can speculate, that may be wishful thinking.

I hope its a little longer then Halo, and i hope theyll get Downloadable Single-Player missions for endless, non XBL, fun. But XBL will give out 100s of hours :)

Upwards of 20 to 30 hours would seem a reasonable ask for the single/co-operative mode. If the action is constant and not padded out with overlong cutscenes or suffers from enforced replaying of sections, then an even longer game gets my thumbs up. Then there is the small matter of XBOX Live. If my past games of Halo Link-Up are anything to go buy, then the single player game will take a back seat once completed.

I think there will be somewhere within the range of 10-15 levels. I say 15 because the plot so far sounds pretty lengthly and complicated, so unless there is going to be a Halo 3 it is going to probably be longer than the original Halo. Of course the levels could just be long as hell.
