Read about the Forgotten Spartan I Program
Butane: To protect the world from devastation!
sir_brilliant: To unite all people within our nation!
Rainman89: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
sir_brilliant: To extend out reach to the stars above!
SpaceGhostFlyer: Jessie!
Butane: James!
sir_brilliant: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light
Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

ICEMAN, I appluad you for saying what you were saying so thoughfully, and without malice/discontent. You are the first person I have seen be able to say "moderators are just like you and me" without trying to bring down people who act like suck-ups. I know a lot of people are fed up with the suck-ups( I have been called one many a time), but you were actually able to say it without bringing anybody down.

And that is my 20 cents.

You have no rights here...Moderators post accordingly. If it breaks the rules, then you should have the common sense to know that it does. There was two things called the Code of Conduct and Terms of Use you were supposed to read before signing up you know?

IF one has the common sense to know a post breaks the rules why would you have posted it if it was doomed to be locked? Except it didn't break the rules in this case, and turned out to be a simple mistake. All in all, worth me asking I think you'll agree. Thanks, just another fan.

The thing is, they don't have to leave a message, but if you don't know know why it was locked (because for example no reason was given and you are a newer member) and you don't know who locked it, you can't PM and find out. Perhaps it could just tell you who locked it, so you know who to ask if you need clarification. This thread was not meant as a complaint or a direct question as to why my thread was locked, but just to ask what would be the appropriate means of finding out.

Why can't they just post in the thread they're locking? How hard can that be?

When you're on your twentieth "CHEATIN SUX" thread of the night - the mouse gets heavier. I assure you, locking is not fun, people are getting craftier. Instead of posting a Halo 3 idea they post
"Do you think that >my random idea< is better than >Bungie's existing idea< ?"

Technically I can't lock it, even though it is almost the same as the flamethrower threads. Moderating is a pain in the arse in Optimatch, New Mombassa and the Halo 3 forum.

I am not complaining but sometimes you wonder if posting a reason will improve someones chances of posting like a human with a brain or will they just create a second or third thread?

Just last night I locked about 10 threads in the Halo 3 forum within an hour (I was getting sick of thread cloning) and posted a reason, link and explanation for each one. Two members proceeded to repost their ideas and a third posted how I was "the worset form cop ever".

I don't think reasons should be compulsory in the 3 big Halo forums. I don't mind anywhere else but there.... gah....

In addition to what Pezza said, if a mod posts in a thread just before they lock it, the thread gets bumped to the top of the forum list. This is usually not a desirable outcome - locked threads should sink to page 2 as quickly as possible.

That makes a lot of sense.

Okay okay...but those threads didn't need a reason. It was obvious.

Let's use one of my old threads for example. Ever since the "Say something nice and wonderful about a Bnet member" has been unpinned, newer versions of that thread came up. I, myself, made a repeat of it. Now..there was nothing wrong with the thread(except for maybe the title, but the mods could of edited it) and it was hit with the lock. No reason, just a lock. I didn't break the rules. Nope. So the reason could of been..."The old thread was canned for a reason" .....yeah, who cares?
Also, the same thing happened to a couple of the pictures threads. A mod just randomly decides to lock it...because......why? I don't know. No rules were being broken.
