I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

I heard this metioned in a thread a couple days ago. Somone said that there is a way you can shutdown all unneeded applications so halo will run great. How do i do this because in the processes menu of the taskmanager there are tons of things and I dont know which one s are safe to close.

Download a program called the Ultimate Troubleshooter. It's free for I think 10 tries. It tells you exactly what's running on you're computer, what is on the startup list, and what each program does. Also download Ad-Aware and AVG free to deal with any spyware you may have.

It's generally safe to attempt to close any processes from the windows taskmanager, as if windows is fully updated most of the ones essential to the system will be protected from being terminated (something like error:this is a protected system process) or possibly very good spyware. The worst that ever happened to me is an unexpected shutdown.

If you have some free time or are paranoid, google all the processes, you may find that quite a few may be spyware/adware that viruscheckers havn't found yet. Also, try setting background stuff that has internet connection (like any messengers, even if you''re offline) to not start up immediately.

Good ideas. I use Ad-aware, the first time I used it, it found 12 viruses that my other software (Norton Internet Security, F-Prot, BitDefender Online, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool) didn't.
