I've e-mailed Bungie and Microsoft on this but gotten no specific reply yet.

I'm a "Southpaw." It's been ingrained ever since all those endless hours of Turok, GoldenEye, and Perfect Dark on Nintendo 64. Bungie was considerate enough to include a Southpaw configuration for Halo, but left room for improvement. Since your right thumb, which controls character movement on the right thumbstick, has to be taken off to push the buttons for actions like jumping and melee attacks, it's very awkward. It's downright unfair against experienced players using the Default scheme.

It's obvious that jumping and melee attacks take a MUCH greater place in Halo 2. Unless Bungie follows this suggestion, Southpaws like myself are going to have a very hard time competing, and control should NEVER be an issue for anyone in a game of this type.

I wrote and asked for Bungie's development team to map the A, B, X, and Y buttons to the Directional Pad for the Southpaw Configuration. As the D-Pad is currently not used for anything, and is set on the opposite side of the controller, it would be an excellent solution to this problem. Another solution obviously would be to allow for total player customization. But like I said, both they and Microsoft have been mum so far.

What do you folks think? Is it worth getting together a petition to bring the idea to Bungie's attention? From where I stand it is, even if I weren't a Southpaw. Everybody should be on equal footing when Halo 2 ships.

Thanks for hearing me out. Let's let them hear us all, Southpaws!

I think they should and think they will have southpaw option. If they had it for halo 1, they most likely will have it for halo 2

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Thats a very interesting point you bring up, Extremus. I never thought of it that way but it is true. You have to stop walking to switch guns or reload etc unless you use your index finger but that could get uncomfortable. I will use the default anyway, but I think total customization is a great idea. Good job.

And welcome to the forums.

well they will have it in there. because now you can change your button configuration on the fly in game. So no more starting over and changing the profile if you picked the wrong one. Remember bungie only made things better and they were happy with what they did with Halo 1 so there would be no reason for them to change that.

I didn't quite understand your post. You're saying that total customization is already confirmed? That would be very nice.

Your right thumbstick does not control movement, it controlls aim. If you take your hand off the right thumbstick and hit jump, it takes about 1/2 a second. I'm right handed but I use southpaw. I have no problem with it and it actually increased my accuracy by quite a bit.

Demand your right to be equal! I say DEMAND your god given right to have a control style that is COMFORTABLE to you!! Not just in Halo, but in all our games! Everything from mafia, to the suffering, we need to tell these biast RIGHTY's to go back and make these games again, and THIS time DO it right! I mean..do it LEFT!
