I didn't know about Bungie until Dave Ender asked me one day to group his group on Bungie, defining Bungie as "this company that made this game called Halo," for me.

I played Marathon on my Dads old Mac sometime in the '90s, but never thought of it again until Halo.

I had heard of it before Halo...I just never gave any thought to joining up.

Before Halo Bungie was just "Those guys who made the game Marathon that my brother played in study hall."

While I had known about Bungie and Bungie's website for quite some time prior, I only decided to join sometime inbetween the releases of Halo and Halo 2. Early February of '04, to be exact. I only wish I had joined sooner!

I played a little bit of Marathon and Myth back in the day but I really wasn't attached to it or anything but I am playing them a lot more often now.

I've known about them since before Halo:CE, Marathon was the only reason I got more into Bungie. Only 'til about two or three weeks ago, I managed time to actually get an account here. That's a long time 'til I finally got an account, heh.

I played Marathon, Abuse and Myth separately all the way up to 2002 or something when I finally realised they were all the same company. Then about 2 years later when Halo 2 came out I actually took interest in the community.

Psh. Anyone who joined before Halo 2 is a pure Myth. Rumors. Speculation. They aren't real.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

I played Marathon, though I never gave much thought to Bungie until a few months before Halo 2's release.

I lived in Africa up until 2001...things were different over there. People just didn't have the same access to console systems. If anything people would pimp the crap out of their PC's and then show off the latest Quake game, etc etc...

So no, I did not know Bungie until Halo CE. But the above is my excuse :P

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

I watched the site for a few months before and after the original Halo (1) came out, and then finally joined when I purchased the game with my Xbox during the holiday break (Xmas and New Years) after Halo's release.

That was back when the site was ugly, but still cozy.

I used to play marathon and Oni a bit. But I payed no more attention to Bungie when they were bought by Microsoft and Halo became an xbox only game. That was, till a friend of mine got himself an xbox and halo. Suddenly I liked Microsoft and Bungie again.

Read about the Forgotten Spartan I Program
Butane: To protect the world from devastation!
sir_brilliant: To unite all people within our nation!
Rainman89: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
sir_brilliant: To extend out reach to the stars above!
SpaceGhostFlyer: Jessie!
Butane: James!
sir_brilliant: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light
Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

Honestly, I had heard of Halo, but until I actually bought an Xbox, it never occured to me that there might be an amazing community just a click away from the WWU.

However, I was an immature person in 2003, so I wouldn't have wanted to join untill I did.

I saw the Bungie logo on a copy of Myth my friend used to bring over to play. Thought nothing much of it though. Then Halo came out and I visited the site for walkthroughs and stuff. Then I eventually joined the forum a while later "Why don't you just join the forum, you practically live on that site". This was around the time the site changed.

So yea, I am what you consider a "Halo newcomer".

I was never an Xbox boy, or even a gaming boy until my friend invited me over to his place to play this "Halo 2". After that I had to get an Xbox, and Halo: Combat Evolved, and Halo 2, then soon after I got Xbox Live. One day I got bored and decided to check out this website. I realised that Bungie.net wasn't just a couple of pages with Halo and Halo 2 pictures, it had a whole community and these great forums.

...Thus Tr1GGaH registered as Firewarrior666...

Yeah, I am a Halo Newcomer. I played Marathon along time ago on my old Mac at school but had no idea about anything.

I joined in 04 because I wanted to post about how pissed I was at the Australian marine stereotypes in Halo CE.
