I noticed that when the join date was removed, a lot of people who probably never come into the septagon, came in here and made a boatload of threads about it being gone. Of course, Achronos posted about it before it was changed, and a lot of people who read this forum knew about it. So, maybe there needs to be a way to notify EVERYONE when stuff changes (if it's noteworthy). So what can we do? I can think of three things.

The mods could make a sticky in every forum about it (cons: off-topic stickys, and we have enough already)

There could be a frontpage newspost about it (cons: how many people would read it, and is that cool with overlord)

We could use those annoying popup things integrated into the browser that make that funny windows sound. (cons: Annoying.)

Anyway, leave your thoughts.

Meh, I think if there was something to be done about this...a Mass PM to everyone should go out. And thinking about that, I doubt it would be a plausible scheme. But I don't know...I ain't a guru.

FrontPage news. I think that we need a site log where it has every update, even the stuff we don't need to know. That sort of stuff interest me.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

...Why not just make a little news story about it? They do it when the server is going down, they should at least include a note of any major changes being made in that news story.

Just send out a mass PM to the top 500,000 active users. This way the people that view teh site the most will get it. And post a news story about it. I suggest doing the mass PM at 3:30 AM because it will make the servers run extremly slow. That is if they do it.

Naw, that'd ruin the surprise for the people who are uninformed. And everyone likes surprises, right?

I don't think it would've been necessary to send a mass PM to everyone, or even make a frontpage news report, because essentially, it's not that important. The join date obviously didn't do anything for the forums.

I like this method the best. Just having a little site update log under the forum panel on the front page would be nice. Sorta like the one on the old bungie.net.
