I've just downloaded the minigun mod for Halo but I have no idea how to install it. The readme says:

inject the file "MGthirdperson (rocket launcher).obj" to "mod2 (model)\weapons\rocket launcher\rocket launcher

inject the file "Minigun(Rocket FP).obj" to mod2 (models)\weapons\rocket launcher\fp\fp

inject the file "rocket launcher1.chrome.dds.1.dss" to bitmaps\weapons\rocket launcher\bitmaps\rocket launcher

What in hell does this mean?

I've also downloaded the Hogwars mod and don't know how to install it.

I've got dial-up. It would take months for me to download it.

The few, the proud, the leet.

That's not a minigun. It's a poorly made longer and more slender tube launcher.

Don't bother with mods dude. They slow down the game and take the fun out of the game.

Get halomaptools, dont open halo, then when you get HMT, ill get you more steps.

haha, the guy who says mods ruin games has no idea what he's talking about. Slow down games? How does better network code slow down games? And if mods suck so much, why do people make so many?

As for injections, you need HMT, Halo Map Tools, I think the newest version is 3.5.

You can PM me if you want help on doing it, it's fairly easy and should only take about 2 minutes.

mods are -blam!-, they are for losers who have nothing better to do and who dont know how to use console commands properly. plus they are annoying and can glitch up a game very badly, and because they arent created by actuall bungie staff, they are laggy and take bad effect on your game. get alldev and play with the console, easier and better than mods.

And if mods suck so much, why do people make so many?

Because they suck and they can't think of any other way to win other than cheat. I join a game and teleport up in the air, fall, and die. I join and get hit with a shotgun that fires tank rounds. I spawn and get a nade tossed at me from all the way across the map. And it always lags like crazy.

If you ned to cheat to win than you suck.

Please don't be a smartass when you talk about me.

I apologize to everyone for my bashing during this post.

Finally, an answer to your question.

I'm pretty sure you need the HEK, the Halo Editing Kit, and when they say inject, that means to basically slide the code into the mentioned "slot." So for the Minigun, you would slide it into the line of code where the Rocket Launcher would take up. When you fire up the map once more, you'd be able to find it there.

At least, I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

I would go to Halomaps.org's forums for a bit more help on this, or perhaps to Gearbox Software's forums. You can find them through Google.

hey theres a difference between xbl mods and hpc mods, i think we r venturing into xbl mod territory

Not really, like someone above mentioned, this mod is done using halo map tools. Modding an Xbox involves a modchip and other junk.

ALSO, mods are not for losers who don't know how to use the console, to whoever said that. The console only allows for the spawning of weapons and vehicles that are readily available. Using HMT and sparkedit, you can change a great deal more things within the game. Some people, myself included, would like to see how different parts of the game would react to changed things. For example, with HMT, you could make it so that when shooting an elite's shield, instead of the particle effect, it turns into a needler explosion. With the console, the possibilities are limited, but with mods the sky's the limit.
