Yesterday I got Halo CE because I wanted to play online and its less expensive than Xbox Live. A few weeks ago my local area connection went down and has been down since and whenever I play Halo online I lag. Do you think this could be a result of the downed local connection?

Hm. Try testing your bandwidth size and connection. It could be that your ISP is repairing your connection...you may simply need to give it two or so weeks before it comes back online.

Also, if it's graphics problem, try dumbing down you textures to low, since CE is so much more detailed then normal Halo.

I dont know because whenever I do a diagnostic on the problem it says that a network cable is unplugged. I havent been able to locate that cable. Maybe it was that cable I accidentally cut lawnmowing..oops I was hoping that was the nieghbors'.... Yet whenever I lag, in the corner of the screen it shows a phone line outlet and has an X over it. Can anyone tell me what this means?

That means you're losing the connection to the server. Did you phone about that broken cable? Phone your ISP and ask them if there are any problems with the service. I get a lot of problems with my internet connection as well. It just stops transmitting data so my webpages stall and Xfire doesn't disconnect, it just doesn't seem to realise that the internets not working. I have to reset the modem whenever this happens. Very annoying.

Erm...seeing that you're still able to talk about it, I think its safe to assume it wasn't a livewire...besides, most telephone cables are deep underground...enough so that you won't be able to slice them with a lawnmower.

If your network cable is unplugged, you shouldn't even be able to get into a game in the first place.
