from what i know ( i just read something from gamefaqs like 5 min ago bout dis [www.gamefaqs.com]) they said that the gauss cannon weapon may have not been mentioned since last years E3 but the again so many other features have not been comfermed (did i spell that right?) that doesnt mean there not in the game. so it may be being tweaked or something like that

gauss cannon is the more commonly used name for what is technically a railgun. It uses electro-magnetic force to launch a dart like metal projectile at incredible speeds. Im pretty sure it will be in Halo 2 just because there are supposed to be so many different warthogs.

If you understand what a rail cannon is and how it works, it certainly seems like this is what was shown during the 2k3 demo. Thus far 3 types of warthogs have been revealed: "Rail," rocket, and LAAG. Which of those actually make it into the final game, who knows?

Yes, almost like a slingshot.
