Ok, i know it's probably been asked before, but i can't find the thread (these forums need a search function, and if there is one, can someone point it out plz?) Anyhoo, i've been trying to simply set up a room in halo pc and/or ce (preferably ce), and the ppl i invited can see it, but not join (unable to join game or something like that.). Yes, i did forward all the ports i need to. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know why they can't join, maybe a connection error on their part, or something wrong with your server. I don't know how to fix it

Please, read the stickies. They're there for a reason, and they'll help you out alot. If you don't know what or where they are, then please see this.

yes, i am fully aware of and have read the stickies. However nothing in there is said about this issue. And to claryify, nobody is ever able to join my games. Has anyone had this issue and\or is able to give some help?

Are you and your friends using the latest Halo updater? I've been unable to join games after reinstalling Halo, but forgetting to install the update.

Oh, really? I'm pretty sure they have something on your problem.

Forward your ports and put down your firewall if you have one. That should solve your problem.

Dude, it's not a major risk just putting your firewall down for a little while.

'Your machine is being attacked by a malicious individual (hacker). If you wish to remain secure, it is suggested that you physically disable your internet connection.' That's number 3, by the way. THIS WEEK!

Oh, and when did that appear? Eh? Does it randomly appear out of nowhere on your desktop or when you're browsing through a website or downloading a file? If it's the latter, then don't leave a browser open in the background or download a file while playing Halo.

That happened as I was browsing the Maw today, just prior to my post. And it is a message from my antivirus progrm, McAfee. And I was not running any other programs.

Exactly, dude, don't leave a browser in the background while playing Halo and you should be fine.

And dude, an antivirus program and a firewall are two different things, just so ya know.

I was not running Halo. Or anything else capable of connecting to the internet, other than my av. And, yes, I do know the difference between av and a firewall.

No, I mean lower your firewall when you're going to play Halo and then just put it back up after you're done playing. It's as simple and easy as that.

Most firewall software I know of allow you to configure them to allow some programs, (like Halo) to work while they're up. You just have to play with the preferences.

yes, me too. norton internet security has a feature that allows you to set acces to certain programs. long before now i had already set halo.exe to "permit access on all ports" and also long before now i had already forwarded all necessary ports on my router. I still have the problem.

I had that issue too. Disable software firewalls, or find a way to configure them. Then make sure the hardware firewalls are rerouting to the computer to be hosting.
