Ok, to start things off, I don't turn on Xfire while I play Halo, CS, etc. because I'm afraid they might cause my framerates to drop while I'm playing. I only turn them on in-game during exceptional occassionals, as in if my friend/clan member wants to join a server I'm going to be playing in, but doesn't want to/or can't find the server or the IP linking doesn't work. But I've always wanted to play with Xfire on like you guys, so to stay on the safe side, I wanted to ask the trusty Maw citizens this question: Does running Xfire in-game decrease my framerates in any way?

Thank you for any answers.

Not unless your PC is really straining to play halo in the first place. The person that can best answer this is you.

Run both at the same time, and if you notice a difference, theres your answer. It may drop a few frames, but if you dont notice it then it doesnt matter anyway.

Oh ok, I'll try that today, thank you for the answer. But before I do anything, I need to ask you, is 248MB RAM (Yes, I know it's little, I'm soon going to get another 256MB RAM stick) enough to run any of my PC games WITH Xfire on at the same time?

Ok, thanks guys, I'll try it out today to see if 248 is enough for Xfire while in-game. And yeah, I'm deciding to get either a 256mb stick, or a 512mb stick. How much is either one of them? And how do I know which type (DDR2, etc.) to buy?

It works fine for me. The only thing that really drops my framerate is FRAPS.

My specs: Dual core T2400 1.86 GHz 1 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300

Well, I'm guessing your Xfire runs well in-game because, after all, you have 1 gig of RAM. I only have 248...='(

Well, as you only have 256 (its probably just reading at 248 for various reasons) you will either have normal SD or DDR. I doubt you will have DDR2. Way to check is get your stick of ram, and see how many 'notches' it has. The bits which the grooves fit into.

DDR has one groove, and normal old SD has 2.

I think DDR2 has one slot too but Im almost certain yours wont be DDR2.

It should be fine...but why can't you try it? What's so unsafe about it? And you say you use it sometimes, so....you should know what it's like.

Translation:

Ive got a monster PC which I wanted to show off, and not help with the problem at all.

Why do people do that? Post in answer to a problem with a PC thats completely different, and saying they dont have a problem running it.
