...and that update was basically of little to no use to me.

It's great they put out an update, better than nothing, but...I want details, not "oh, it's great, we had a great time, people loved it." If I want to read that sort of entry, I'll go to Myspace or LiveJournal, not B.net's top page.

Doesn't matter. It'll still be halo 2 and look like Halo 2. You wont truly see great things until the current CE community gets their hands on the toolset.

Oh yeah, cause we all know that Source, Fear, and all the current games/engines that look frackin amazing at high resolutions all use DX10......

DX10 isn't even in the picture, I have no idea why you would even try to bring it into this.

It's because of the textures, lighting, etc. Dont get me wrong, the paid developes can do great work, but they usually have in their minds a mainstream train of thought. When they make something, they make it to a budget. You dont really get that with the third party amateurs.

It all depends on just how much time they've taken working with the artistry. Yeah, supposedly they've worked on making some of the models look better with larger basemaps, but I doubt they've done it for everything. If they have, then my expectations are met and you wont hear me -blam!-ing. I mean, what good would it do to look at a wall at 1900x1200 if your basemap, bump map, primary and secondary detail maps, etc for it are 256x256?

DX10 does nothing visualy by itself. The game has to be programmed using the new dx10 commands for it to look any different, and they vertainly arn't doing that.

Heh, it's coming along, to be sure. Now if I can just wait out and save up for a new computer. I'm leaning towards buying a 360 for Halo 3, but if the production timeline doesn't incur any setbacks, and they really are showing a playable demo in August then I would even expect Halo 2 PC to release as an opener with Vista sometime in December...

I'll give it a few months. Wait till I see some content, then make my decision. Heh, I finally played some Halo multiplayer after almost 2 months...and it felt good. Hope to see the regular crowd and some new "faces" online soon enough.

Why would they release a game months before there's anything to play it on. H2V will be released after Vista in 1Q07.

Pointless. I really can see it going the way of halo after its released. I really want to be wrong.

But based on bungies PC game performance after joining with microsoft, its not likely.

well if everyone in this part of the forum learnt how to use the source engine and had steam installed, we could make something called Halo:Source which would be halo 2 muitplayer. it would be a free mod. This part of the forum could then work together making the maps, models, weapons, coding etc etc. This way, we could play halo 2 mutiplayer using the source engine, HDR lighting, bloom, blur, depth etc. it would be halo 2 but with better graphics on our PC for free before Windows Vista and it would work on windows XP, Windows 2000 etc. So how about it.
