My friend tells me that 480pi is the standard pixel amount of most any telivision, so its worthless to get a HDTV just for your supposed HD xbox game.

That really does not sound right to me, why would they even advertize it on the box in the first place? If someone can help that would be great.

Regular televisions do not run in 480p

Nope, anything with that resolution is considered HD.

What kinda pixels would a standard 27'' flat screen from target have?

It would have a resolution of 640 X 480. I'm not going to do the math on that one to figure out the actual pixels. HDTV goes from 720 pixels by 1,280 pixels and goes all the way up to 1,080 x 1,920.

The real difference between HDTV and regular TV is that HDTV is digital, not analog. Much sharper, and better clarity.

Everything that isn't HD is 480i.
