Go to microsoft.com and do a search for SIW or System Information for Windows. Download it from the right side of the screen. It tells you everything about your computer in one easy program. It works very well. Go try it out.

Or, you could go to your System Properties in the control panel.

Exactly. Simple, easy and gives you more than you'll ever need to know about your computer.

but all these don't tell you everything in one screen...this program tells you speed of things, ports things are hooked to, what versions you got of things, passwords, ip address, and everything else about your computer. Trust me, this program shows you more than any standard program that came with your computer. It was made and used by microsoft developers and then it was made for public use...so this is what the pros use.

Then again, if you really were a computer nerd, you'd already know all the specs of your rig by heart. :P

You guys aren't feeling me man! This can retrieve specs that there is NO way for you to even see them without this program. Just try this program real fast...then you can tell me what's up.

dxdiag only tells you how your system measure up to Direct X.

Go to Control Panel > Performance and Maintanence > System. There are a bunch of tabs that can help you out there.

The only problem is that it's a download. People are by nature lazy, meaning that people would much rather try natively-based solutions like right-clicking My Comptuer or DXDIAG instead of going to the M$ website, searching for the app, downloading, installing, and THEN finally running the proggy.

That, and the fact that most if not all members of The Maw know their computer’s specs by heart now, and therefore have practically no need for it. Why bother downloading, etc when you already know all that you need to know about your computer?

*sigh* I did read it. But since you don't exactly believe me, let me tackle this aM Inspire-style...head-on.

Firstoff, what exactly merits this download? I'm curious to know exactly what it is about your computer the proggy will find that we don't already know as tech-oriented users of The Maw.

Second, what practical use would this program have? All you really need to know are the clockspeeds of CPU/GPUs, type and make of processor and GPU, version of Windows, and RAM. Most other stuff can be found just as easily or is superfluous and unecessary. We don't, for example, need to know how many peripheral devices are connected to our computer, we don't need to know what version of BIOS you're running...so why would we need something that reveals all this (assuming that's what it does).

Third, people are lazy by nature. I don't feel like reiterating my last post.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that you're finding apps that (possibly) help make it easier for users to find out their computer specs, but for the most part, it seems unecessary.
