I don't know if this is just rumor or not but I heard that players will be able to peek around corners in Halo2 in a very similar fashion to Rainbow Six 3. Can some one tell me if I am miss informed or this is going to be an actual feature. Any infor would be great to have.

I asked a few friends about that, and all I got was stares and nods of dissaproval saying that Halo isn't like that. It doesn't have to be in 3rd person, but such an option would be awesome.

Hopefully it doesn't turn into the next Splinter Cell. It really fitted in with that series, but adding too much stealth to Halo 2 would kind of detract from the game.

I don't think they will, wasn't in E3 and i agree, it isn't halo. If i want splinter cell i'll just buy IT. All this shooting out lights and peeking don't sound halo!

Neither was Sprinting, melee combos, nor most of the vehicle types, half of the weapons, nor the power-ups.

We just won't know until later.

The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

Peeking was in the E3 2003 demo. Right before the marine says "frag and clear" he peeks around the corner. They have not explained how it works.

bah

Most likely it will be in, but you'll never have to use it. In real life, you can do tons of stuff that you don't ever do, Halo 2 will be the same. My friend will peek around corners all the time, whereas I like to strafe the corner and go face-to-face with anyone who is there.

lotec16, we know whatcha mean, but it'll add realism and up the coolness factor quite a bit. i mean, if corporal Perez can do it, why can't John? There would be tactical advantage, of course...

Even a horde of Elites?

Or maybe a jumble of Hunters?

Would you even do this for a legion of Brutes, accompanied by some Thirsty Grunts?

Once again that ancient EGM article comes in handy, though they may have changed things around since 2002...

From the article...
Currently set to the D-pad, this new function automatically leans the Chief forward a bit and cranes his neck around to the left or right, more like you would peek around the corner in real life than the slight shift to the side you'll find in most first person shooters. You won't be able to attack while peeking though, the idea is to let you scout ahead a bit without being seen.

This would add an interesting aspect of the game, and it wouldn't turn it into splinter cell. It would just make it that for any players who like being stealthy, can.

I have to admit. I would love it. I've played through Halo concentrating on the Stealth aspect. It's an entirely different feel then when you charge at everything. (Then again, so is limiting yourself to never firing a round from your gun)

I love being up high in the rafters watching the peons running around looking for you and every once rushing out, beating one or two down, shooting a few and then dissapearing once more. It's also fun lobbing a plasma grenade onto their backs when they least expect it.
