About all of these people stating that they are the biggest and most devoted fan to any game ever. This is completely untrue. Quality online PC games, have huge followings. As much as i to admit it, counter strike (one of the worst games ever) has a larger following than Halo. Huge tournaments take place every year. As for Halo for PC, it is one of the worst online communities because it is full of unmature kids playing in the lag filled servers. As for the game getting out, it's really quite sad, but I don't think that it is going to change anything. Those who want to buy it will, and those who don't (even if the game wasn't leaked early) would have been able to get it from hundreds of locations online on november 9th. I see how bungie is mad because of the possibility of spoilers getting out to the fans that want to find out the story on their own when they buy the game on the 9th, but truthfully, you aren't going to see any spoilers online unless you go out of your way and look for them. All of the "die" comments being made on these are quite hilarious, and shows the age group of a lot of the fans. Not all modders are bad, some do it because of all of the cool applications that can be put on your xbox, and to back up the games that they themselves own instead of having to carry a bunch of dvd cases around when they travel, or a cd wallet. Seen some people braggin about how they are going to be getting the game early, by opening up shipments to their stores or whatever, when in essence you are doing the same thing that whoever stole the french copy did. No one is going to look up to you because you get the game three days early or whatever. Well, thats my two cents on some of the posts that stood out to me, when i glanced over the 70 some odd pages.
Sure, the Counter-Strike community is huge. It was, more or less, the revolutionary online game that brought everyone together 4 or 5 years ago. I don't like that game either, but try to discern the fact that in 22 more days, that will all change. Online community gaming will change. When over 4 million people step online to take the fighting to each other, everything will change. The mere couple thousand will be taken from world wide on Halo to a mere couple thousand in 25 percent of Rhode Island ( You know how small Rhode Island is, don't you?)
As for getting the game about 6-12 hours early, I don't expect people to look down on me. I just want to get a small edge on the maps on XBL ;P plus I am just tired of waiting since August, 2002, to be frank. And I know that many of you out there have waited as long as me too, but i just see it the earlier, the better, even if it is ony a half-day. It's not really pirating in that essence.
