Well I've had this idea for the longest time, but needed to say it here. This is my theory on how Halo destroys all life within a 25,000 light year radius.

Now Halo is a weapon, as we already know. But we have no idea how it works, or what is used to kill everything. Halo has been detonated before, as stated by 343 Guilty Spark in The Library. The problem is finding a way that would most likely kill off all sentient life. I think I know the best way.

Planetary disasters. Ever taken a look at that red storm on Jupiter that has yet to stop? Or the thin atmosphere of Mars? A planet that could have once been like Earth, but suddenly changed. Then there is the Great Flood. A planetary disaster meant to wipe out all of humanity. Who is to say (other than Bungie) that maybe Halo served a double purpose?

My guess is that Halo sends out a beam of energy in every direction that interferes with stable atmospheres and causes massive problems that take long enough to kill all life on that planet. Which then makes it so that the Flood can no longer feed.

All in all Halo causes massive disaster that takes forever to fix starving Flood. The end.

I also have some other junk that makes it seem like God is the Forerunner and vice-versa. Holy Trinity, " destruction is the will of the gods ", mistakes by the Covenant and such, but that is for another day.

So what do you people think on this half--blam!-ed theory?

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Your theory sucks!!! Just kidding, I've just always wanted to say that about one of these theories.
Not bad except it destroys ALL life within the 25,000 light year radius with enough biomass. A planetary storm would kill all life on the planet, not ones with enough biomass to feed the flood, and also I think the forerunner would account for life on ships and/or space stations. Other than that pretty good.
Now feel free to poke holes in the above paragraph because I just thought of it.
-EDIT-
Oops I said thing with enough biomass, but really it was sentient, but my point still stands.

Nice theory, one of veeeery many. ^_^ Me, I'm too lazy to figure something out like a theory! I'll just wait for Halo 2.

One problem, Halo only destroys sentient life. Animals, (and cells to sentient life, possibly) would have to survive for life to continue on the planets affected by the pulse. Otherwise the Humans and Covenant wouldn't exist, because according to Guilty Spark Halo was used in the far past.

That's exactly what I said Banshee! Well kind of....

Yeah I know, but how do we know certain things aren't sentient? Or maybe as a side effect all non-sentient life sort of gets "zapped" as well. Just for being in the way.

It could have been before humans and covy came along, I think it just makes a big bang and blows everything up, thats my theory, like a super nova. If there are more halos then one halo wouldn't destroy all of the forunners. So if one went off it would be for the good of all the forunners, and doesn't really matter if they lose a few stars in a billion.

Yes there are more Halos. At least three (The Halo we fight on is Installaion 04) So, um...crap I had a good response to that. DAMN YOU MIND BLOCK!!!

Or... the reason why there are humans here on earth is that we were one of the rare few humans that survived the energy wake while sealed within our forerunner facility hidden here on the earth.

Or on that little thing called the Ark when the Earth was flooded over for a year. (Sorry, but I had to add some historical thing, and anyone who thinks otherwise on it being historical, bite me)

You know,

I agree that a forum is used to discuss....but some things you just shouldnt think about...

you know why? because regardless of what idea...it is always ridiculous on a topic like this....

I will admit that his idea is good....but like all ideas about how halo works it is stupid...

besides EVERYONE knows halo shoots out laser beams that disrupt atmosphers which change the living conditions so the flood can no longer feed

Duh!
