But why is everyone saying "it looks great" did I miss a screen shot somewhere or does everyone mean it sounds great?

EDIT--> NM I found them...sneeky lil buggers. Yeah looks alright, kinda choppy but that might just be my comp here at work, I have a wicked LCD monitor but the tower is a few years old...I know its a freekin dinosour. Comp at home would probably do it better justice.

we pc users have plenty of reasons to rejoice. it was your god damn console called the xbox and a company called microsoft that saw the potential in the original halo game and stole it away from us. many dont even know that halo was originally planned for the pc way back in 1997....as a 3rd person adventure game!

what us pc users get from this franchise is taken with much joy after all the BS that weve had to go through

Whoa...

Why dont you spend $498,000 (insted of the full $500,000) on your house and take the extra 2gs and go nuts on a computer man...I mean it really sounds like money is a huge issue for you.

I cant even buy a 360, and will most likly have to rob a 7/11 to get one...and Im an accountant. Truth is most people in north america cant afford a PC needed to run H2V, so you beochin about how the world isnt progressing fast enough for you is sad dude. And its not any better anywhere else in the world, most people in the world live on about $2 a day. So why dont you just take your $400 computer activated microwave and stick it.

RIP Halo 2.

Forcing the game to have to use Vista is a bunch of freakin' BS.

Feature 1 - Graphics:
A higher resolution: easily done on DirectX 9 on WinXP/2K.
New FP models: easily done on Xbox or DirectX9 on WinXP/2K.
No LoD: easily done on Xbox or DirectX 9 on WinXP/2K.

And the two things I said are doable on the Xbox? I've done them already. It's insanely easy.

So basically, here's a game that could easily run on Windows XP/2K and DirectX 9. But instead, Bungie has decided to whore the game out and make it exclusive to Vista so that Microsoft can attempt to use it to shove Windows Vista down the throats of gamers. So we're gonna be stock with a bug-filled patch needing OS just to play Halo 2. Very cool, thanks a ton.

Feature 2: HD
That's not a feature of the game. That's applicable to every other PC game in the world.

Feature 3: Mouse/Keyboard
Still no confirmation regarding autoaim. Unless the controller gets forced autoaim on and mouse gets autoaim forced off, it's utterly pointless.

Feature 4: Campaign
I thought the Xbox 1 had this.

Feature 5: MP
No VoIP confirmation. No ranking confirmation. So far the Xbox version seems superior.

Feature 6: Videos
Also, you guys are pushing how easy it is to take videos now? Well if you aren't including an ingame video creation tool such as the one provided by The Sims 2, then I sure as hell hope you have timedemoing. In fact, timedemos would be extremely preferable. You can't call the easy video taking a feature unless you have timedemos included, it's ludicrous to just assume someone comes out with FRAPS Vista.

I've been doing videos on the Xbox with a cheap capture card (cheaper than FRAPS). And screenshots I do free directly on the Xbox.

Feature 7: User Content
Been doing this on the Xbox since the first week of Halo 2.

No, I think it's the other way around. Microsoft wanted it to be a Vista exclusive. I knew something like this might happen.

RIP Halo 2.

If you're going to force an OS down our throats to play a game, then you sure as hell ought to make it worth our while is what I'm syaing. There is absolutely no reason this game can not run on Windows XP/2K. The graphics are not improved in any manner that requires Vista or DirectX 10.

Running at a higher resolution is just gonna make it all the more obvious how low-res the textures in Halo 2 are. I'd be okay with the Vista requirement if they used DirectX 10 to its full capabilities and totally revamped the game.

This is the same BS that happened with AoE3 being locked to XP. Shortly after the release, it was found the game could easily be made to install on Windows 2000 with a quick qorkaround. Hopefully there will be a hack for Halo 2 to run on XP. M$ (I hate the acronym, but it's so true here), is the only thing you have available to push you'realmighty new bug ridden OS a over 2 year old Xbox game? For shame.

Nothing will turn a group of grown men into a mass of screaming girls quicker than the launch of Halo 3

Dual Core Support? the game has nothing to do with supporting dual core. thats all dealing with the OS and Vista im sure does considering windows XP does. and from the list that you have of your PC components it doesnt matter cuz your running an old AMD single core CPU

I believe one thing does need to be adressed here: are you allowing the customization of Single Player Campaigns? People in Halo CE were looking at H2V for a priority option for new custom SP campaigns. Over at GBX, we've all been talking about it & we have yet to see anything but MP content. Does this mean that SP is NOT an option? Many of us are looking at H2V as a "Last Hope" to finish the large projects that we started so long ago. In reality, it may even be the only thing that keeps some of us here in the community. I believe that this would be a major dissapiontment if you didn't allow sp modding. Please consider the ideas of those who have been with Halo PC for so long, we've gone through the MP experiance & have brushed the edges of custom Single Player Campaigns. MP is gunna rock, with a good netcode & a good engine. (Of course, many are planning on making a great MP to go along with the SP - but if SP is a NO-GO, then many are talking about finding a different game.) But with H2V, our SP possibilities will be greatly widened, we will have an the opportunity to use a good engine for our higher poly models. We will have the chance to show what some of us are really capable of doing. If you really want to see some magnificent work, you won't disable SP modding. Some good people & great modders are depending of this...

Thanks,
Scooby

no johnrap
i think they announced that they wouldnt be able too :[
that would be pretty sweet tho but im sure all the pc users would have an advantage.

and for al you people worrying about vista, if you have a rather good pc with a dx 9 video card and 512mb or more of ram, then you can download the vista beta version from most p2p sites and bittorrent, i also think that you can try it from the microsoft website.

Too bad "Windows Vista would not support commercial Blu-ray and HD DVD playback on machines sporting 32-bit processors" and "Windows Media Player 11 won't be able to play commercial, high-def films when Vista ships".

Hmmmm. Maybe I'll just stick with xp.

The few, the proud, the leet.

main article
Bungie has always supported its community and making it easier for them to create custom content was an early goal of Halo 2 Vista.

That's a bunch of crap. Bungie studios has supported Custom Edition to the bare minimum. The only time anyone from the studio has made a big deal out of Custom Edition was to bring publicity to Halo 2 pre-launch. I cant believe anyone would put that up in a main article.

'Always supported'? Yeah right. Custom Edition is as unsupported as anything can be. The only time anyone has jumped in to support it was to fix the server crashing script which was being used as an exploit.

Bungie has a VERY dedicated fanbase in the Custom Edition community, yet they aren't listened to at all reguardless of ANYTHING they do.

IGN said it was cool but ran like crap. I think I'll wait for when it's fixed up befre i believe the Bungie Marketing hype

You know, I was really confused when I read what IGN said. I had a totally smooth experience on the machine that I played on here, it was just like my Xbox at home but it looked better. Maybe the machine I was on is just super awesome? I'm not really that worried about it, one bad experience won't change things, it'll get its fair shake.
