Is Halo 2 Vista going to use the Direct 10x cards that nVidia should come out by the end of this year? The screenshots look like crap so I hope they step up considering of all the PC has over the Xbox 360 and the Xbox.

Yes. I think there are already DX10 capable cards? Not a video cards person so wait for someone else to reply.

Yes, they are going to use Direct X 10 cards. And I know those screenshots look like crap but you have to see the videos, and anyways it's an early build. We'll see much more improvement in the future, probably, and hopefully it will bring more PC gamers into the Halo community and be a better game than the Xbox version.

any1 have a rough estimate to how much dx10 cards are going to cost?

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

you could probably gut a 360 and find a dx10 card in there, but thats just an idea.

GTX Cards, Like 7800 GT, 7900 GTX + would do DX10, i dont think 6000 series cards will not be the card you want for High Spec H2PC Vista. (In terms of Nvidia...)

Correct me if im wrong.

Thats what I was thinking. Like, higher end cards that are capable of running dx10. I know dx10 isnt even out yet.

You can run Halo 2 with DX9 cards, you just need vista.

So, any of the Geforce 7 series should work, with maybe a few of the 6 series.

I'm pretty sure even DirectX 9 cards will be able to play Halo 2 Vista with good graphics.

You can't say a card supports dx10 unless it supports every feature except for three with hardware. That means no card out today supports dx10.

Guys pay attention! No DX9 card out there right now or in the near future will be able to run all the DX10 features. Thats because the cards don't have the hardware on the card to support the extra features. Hardware meaning physical component in the card that allow it to run certain features. So unless you got a small soldering gun and a crapload of know how your DX9 card will not be able to run the DX10 stuff.
Now does that means that your not going to be able to run Halo2Vista? No. Your DX9 card will probably run fine you just won't be able to see all the sniny, pretty things that the DX10 cards will be able to show. Are we clear?

for dx10: windows vista beta 2 comes with it. I have an ati AIW x1900. i have the areo glass interface and everything spiffy, but does it mean my card supports dx10? probably not *but who knows, there may be an update for some cards

There won't be an update. Its not software thats holding it back. You can use dx9 with vista, but for new games, you will need dx10 to be able to use some if not all of the features.
