Why is foul language censored? Halo 1&2 are rated M, so why should we be censored? Kids under 17 shouldn't even be on these forums, so I see no problem with swearing.

I don't see much swearing on the boards as it is. -blam!- is getting annoying for the off time that someone does swear.

If there isn't much of it anyway then maybe people don't feel the need to swear...

-blam!- is for the better me thinkz

We are censored because people as a collective are dumb, they can't control themselve nor their actions. Thus, instead of providing means for abuse and flames and other general stupidity, certain words have been censored. They are inappropriate for Bungie Studio Forums anyways...

Basically, I like the censorship. It provides some moral standard here...and you have no rights here anyways. You agreed upon that portion of the ToU and CoC when you signed-up. Thus I don't think that asking to not be un-censored will yield any result. Unless a miracle of Biblical scale were to occur and people on the Internet were responsible, & mature.

if you don't see much then why does it matter if it's censored or not?

As I stated in my previous post above, people will abuse it. People are abusive and irresponsible as a collective. And what is B.net? A collective of teenagers for the most part...who are barely old enough, some of them, to drive. Other barely legal to purchase tobacco...I don't not think that age constitutes for a reason for you to swear here. But my point is that if these people are so new to such things that are nearly harmless as buying something, or driving and that millions of them use these privaleges wrongly everyday and end up hurt or SOL, what does that say about their ability to keep themselves in line. Todays society lacks self-discipline.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

It is a mature game, but groups of all ages visit the site...and the last thing we need is some lame punk spamming the forums with a bunch of racial insults and threats against Bungie.

Not to mention not all Bungie's games are rated M.

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

Because Bungie owns this website and may censor anything they wish too. There is no free speech here despite what game ratings, country or how old you are. It's stately clearly in the Code of Conduct. “Bungie controls everything, you have no rights. Play nice.”

It takes maturity not to use swear words. You need to find outlets. This is simply to put those users in the right state of mind so that they don't be evil and cause stirrings in others. If you want to use swear words, go find a different forum.

Well, I myself can live with cuss words here and there. I cuss sometimes, both in the forums and in real life, but not to a point where every other word I say is -blam!- or -blam!- or -blam!- or mother-blam!-. I cuss in moderation.

But I can see why Bungie would want to blam out certain offensive words.

(random yet funny signature goes here)

Don't forget that the game may be rated M in the U S of A but it may not be rated as high in other countries. I think Aus its rated 15.

Not everybody who goes to these forums has played Halo 1 or Halo 2, and those games are only rated Mature. It's still likely and okay for many people who play Halo 1 or Halo 2 to be young.

Actually, it's okay for anybody to be on the Bungie forums. Also, even if they were not allowed on these forums, then there would still be many young people who would be on these forums. It's inevitable.

You aren't looking hard enough. Also, if people could swear, then they would probably abuse their ability to swear.

If people swear so infrequently, then it shouldn't really be a problem for their swears to be censored. Besides, it's not like the censorship would be annoying while the actual swears wouldn't be annoying.

Cursing isn't very mature. I can be rather foul mouthed at times, but a public forum is no place for such language. And uh... Bungie does have other games besides the Halo series.

Just so you know, I absolutely love your avatar. I wonder what would've happened if the animator hadn't suddenly died of a fatal heart attack?

Anyways, I agree with what someone up there said. People would so abuse the right to swear here. Any flame wars started would be 10 times as bad with people flying F-words everywhere. And yes, cussing doesn't make you mature. I think it's more of a character thing. I think that swearing can....well....kind of enhance a conversation, especially if your pissed. It gets the message across that you're angry.

Why does EB Games refuse to sell mature games to people under 17? Because it's on the verge of becoming illegal.

It's not illegal. It's only a store policy for them to not sell games that are rated Mature to minors. Also, they can still own those games if somebody else buys those games for them.
