I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

Mhm...OK. Newsflash; the flood has been like this since the announce of Halo 2...sorry, just deal with it. There is nothing different now from a year ago, other than there are more members due to the announce of Halo 3.

I'll turn the screws of vengeance and bury you with honesty
I'll make all your dreams come to life, then slay them as quickly as they came

I see no difference in the Flood now, and what it's been since I joined in early 2005.

Hell, it's been like this since The Flood was created. For some reason unknown to me, people are just now noticing the spam that takes place there.

I agree. And I joined after you. I just stopped posting almost completely...

Yeah, when I used to be a big flood regular back in 04 it was basicly the same, except the bigger titles, such as Douglas Brown, and MCs Brother posted more, so it wasn't as bad as it is now, although there were basicly the same drama that we see now. All the sudden a gang of flamers gets borwed with another forum, comes to the flood, the newish flood members are suprised by this, complain, get tired of it, and leave. It's nothing new. While the hardened veterans stay, and watch this all take place again and again. Sort of like a anual cycle:

- Get new Flood Regulars, "Veterans" help them along
- Everything's going steadily, some oroginal threads are popping up
- Members get to know eachother
- Alliances and friendships are created
- Flame Gang comes out of nowhere, members are suprised by thing
- Veterans look on as they give in and start to flame back
- In the end, some members leave, some stay, and become new "Veterans"
- The cycle repeats next year

I think one problem is that there might be some perpetual average age of the members of the Flood, and eventually people grow out of it and leave/complain of things being different when it is only their perspective that has changed.

I have noticed very little change since I joined (which wasn't too long ago, but enough to get a general idea of what's going on there). Basically, old spammers leave, new spammers join. It'll always be this way.

True..Its an off topic forum though with so much traffic, that pretty much EVERY topic you can think of has been beaten through over and over, so there aren't much good discussions anymore, nothing to hold the less competent members attention and keep them productive.

My gamertag is SHADOWRIDERJP.

Im somewhat new but I consider myself a regular in the flood. There is alot of spamming but still there are some good topics there. It has been this way since ive been here. I dont know why people are making a big deal out of it.

Well, if everyone just started "noticing" all the spam and flaming going on down there, I'd imagine there actually is a rise in it then you may think. I've noticed it too. It's ridiculous. I think we need to "cleanse" the Flood.

*grabs refried beans and a Red Bull*

*eats refried beans and drinks Red Bull*

Ok, now, I think we need to just have more people patrolling down there.

I'm helping in the clean-up efforts, just ask Yoozel.

Let grunts Sleep!!!

The Flood was a lot better when I joined in 2004. Not so many people flaming others, but now most of those people are gone, replaced by the "Halo 2 crowd" that joined after it was announced.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I still enjoy the Flood. It has it's bad days but good things do happen... and there is a very simple answer to these problems, groups....

Even though I've only been here for 5 months, from what I've seen, the Flood is better than it was back then:

*No Charizard
*No Twitch
*More security
*More people stepping up and showing the right waty.

But then again, the people who were actually here say that it has always been like this. I'll take their word for it.

Oh man... Charizard and Soviet_Jackal were two members of the flood that spammed everything, but those were some of the few post that actually made me laugh. "MY BALSS WILT EXPLYOD ONY UYOUR FACEVHE."

Since '04, I think the Flood has changed. It used to be heavy on intelligent-ish (for the Flood) type threads, with a spritz of spam (unless Mith had a run on it) and a dash of popularity contests.

Now, it seems to be heavy on the popularity and spam... with a haberdash of intelligence. There also seems to be a heavy influx of "blank the poster above you" threads since '05.

The Floods the Flood, and it's cyclical. People come and go, people mature. Sometimes you've just gotta sit back and wait for the right people to show up.

*More people stepping up and showing the right way

Older spammers showing new people their way. The Flood's "former glory" as it's been called, was still a spamfest, only the members participating had older accounts and knew each other better. Maybe they feel the newer spammers are moving in on their territory and get irate about it.

That sums it up nicely. I think that the denizens of the flood should split up into two seperate gangs. Me and the rest of two years or older members would square off against the young'ins. Kind of like the Warriors.

That would be one of the prime reasons they got rid of the member since date...

Good to see at least somebody takes this place seriously

I am sincerely disappointed in everyone except JIMH. JIMH, have a gold star.

',:\ IF YA SAHMELLLL

I agree, people argue all the time in these forums. They'll flame each other about whether someone will or will not flame the topic starter. And it's not just from the newer members; it's from the more experienced members, too. There's nothing that can be done except for people on the forums to just become more mature as a whole. Until that happens nothing will change.

People that tell someone that they are spamming in the forum rather than using the pm system are just as bad as the original spammers. I think most people realize what spam is and the only thing they are accomplishing is creating more spam and drawing attention to themselves. I don't know if it's an ego thing telling someone "your wrong and stupid, get a life", but it does more damage than good.
