Subject: the flood is dieng

Yesterday was just a bad day for the Flood. You have Woca posting mindless garbage, Wonka and Oompa tag-teaming Java in another thread, and Reanimation being a complete drama queen/king and announcing the to world how fed up with the flood she/he was.

I'd give it a few days and things will calm down.

You missed the point like Vader missed the banshee, your whole argument is covered in bees.
Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

only certain people visit the flood those who don't like it shouldn't complain because it's the same as it has always been

The Flood is fine.

I go there every hour.

Reanimation- is an attention whore who wanted to leavw with a bang.

DDRmaster- quite 'cause he fails at life and never posted much anyway.

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

The people who are in the flood don't give a damn as his. There are a lot of people that just post random -blam!- in there, I know I have. The threads in that forum or more of stupid conversations about nothing, then actual off topic conversations.

It has always been like that, but with every big bang of members suddenly people notice how bad it is...I was one of the big bang Halo 2 people, but I now know what the older members felt like with the release of Halo 2...And as Craz3d noted there is the cycle of The Flood.

I think we should remove the "Say your Stupid Stuff Here" as the discription. It may help. But then again, maybe not. The whole "Off-Topic Forum" sentiment tends to let people think that they should post the most idiotic things that pop in their mind- then wonder why they get in trouble or flamed for it.

The Flood needs to grow up. Sure, I love humor and the chill atmosphere. But people in there are hypocrites- They flame spammers, yet the threads they make are pure spam. And there was (is?) so much elitism. I remember my first night in there: I was told to shut up and go back to Halo 3 Forum (my original home) because apparently I was making too much discsussion while being a new member. Stuff like that is just stupid and pointless.

There's still elitism, but it's going away, thankfully. People need to understand: We're a community. Act like it.

I wonder what this place is going to be like come Halo 3. I can only imagine. I will make sure that any member who comes in when we hit the Halo 3 era will feel comfortable here- or at least I'll personally try.

If you want to stop certain "bad eggs," then help them feel like they're a part of the community. Don't make them feel like they have to "earn" respect here. If we can treat people with kindness and respect, we can improve the community and futher strengthen the relationship between the members.

Chances are that it'll just be a big bang of members, the whole The Flood cycle thing is going to happen, some of the veterans will leave, regulars will become veterans and new members will become regulars, yes there will be spamming, but remember, just pm a ninja and explain to the spammer why it is spam.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Indeed. There is, as with everything else, is a cycle to the flood. I'm actually just as annoyed with all the "The Flood sucks now" threads as I am with the spam, flamewars etc. Its up to you, and only you, to improve or correct the things you dissapprove of. Your options are: leave, join in in the spamfest(or even better, STOP POSTING IN THE STUPID THREADS), make interesting threads so like-minded individauls can participate, or whine about it. I'll keep on doing what I always do, and intergrate with the community on a level that i'm comfortable with.

I see no problem, just the perpetual cycle its always been.

For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

"Lazy -zapp!-, what the hell are you doing playing with me? Get to work lazy ass."

The Flood has always been (since I joined in '04) filled with useless idiots who can't spell, and beat the hell out of topics that used to be loads of fun. And don't even get me started on the jokes they make, or the amount of 'your-mom's that I've heard.

Only when it has to be said.

Sometimes it just has to be said.

Examples:

Person 1: My mom took my pants....
Person 2: Your mom took my pants too.

Person 1: What's one thing you regret doing in your life?

For the last two years or more The Flood has served for nothing more than to keep the spammers, flammers, attention whores, general juvenile idiots and what have you away from the main forums. Its doing that just fine, for now.

OMG
Master Chief w/o his Helmet!

Stosh <3's me vicariously... at least someone does...

It hasn't changed really, just nostalgia sets in. The thing that is dragging it down most is the older members and "members of the flood" complaining about how spam-free and wonderful the flood always used to be.

  • 08.27.2006 6:53 PM PDT

Yes, for your information, I do happen to be a girl. =P

This is where I hang

-Zomg Catz!-

Well, Im newer to the forums (and I love the Flood) and I agree with all the ' veterans' that there is a lot of spamming. I know its a "off-topic forum" but that doesnt mean to come in bragging about stealing games or going "I love waffles" in your post. Thats dumb. I think it ok to act a little wierd, perhaps, as long as you stay on whatever topic its about.

And how many times will that happen? Whatever the statistics are on that, they'd be low.

God, I hate the people who can't use proper grammar and can't spell, it annoys the hell outta' me. The amount of times that I've had to correct people's crappy spelling and grammar is unbelievable...

People, read over your posts before you posts them!

Good to see at least somebody takes this place seriously

I am sincerely disappointed in everyone except JIMH. JIMH, have a gold star.

',:\ IF YA SAHMELLLL

I think a big problem is people not using the pm system. So much spam can be taken out of a topic by pming a person rather than puking every thought up on the forums.

Oh, the irony! It's actually spelled "dying", but the spelling doesn't matter.

Yes, it does seem that not many people are using the pm system, I have myself and I have to say, it is better than replying to spam topics...Much better.

Well, based on the consensus, it has always been like this. There was a time where I myself said "What has happened to The Flood?" and people always give me the same response: Nothing has changed.

I think it is indeed a cycle. Based on the Bungie.net Flood history, there was always someone who would rise up and raise hell with spam attacks and inappropiate content. I haven't witnessed anything like that since being here, so I guess personally I think it's fine. There's spam and flames and whatnot, but I believe The Flood is ok. And based on what people tell me, it has always been this way.

Halo 3 Forum? That was my original "B.Net Home." But I left there for my own reasons. It's an Ok place once you get to know it though. That's just my opinion of course.

Give it another few months and we'll get one of the super spammers, but hopefully they'll get banned quick enough...

The Flood has never being dying, the cycle is flawless, it's gonna happen...

But, I plan to stay here as long as Bungie is running, and hopefully will be able to light the way for the newer members that will come to this wonderful community...And hopefully make not just The Flood, but all of Bungie a better place.

I wouldn't say it's dying. I'd just say that you, like everyone else who says it's dying, are starting to get bored of it.
