Do you really think the Autoaim is going to help laggy 56kers? It won't. Not even an aimbot helps them. Did you even watch that video? A one armed four year old could play Halo2 on Xbox.

They won't put autoaim in Halo2Vista because it's just not needed.
+1 more reason h2 xbox live is full with kids.

An autoaim will make it uneven for one group. Either it will be too good, and annoy everyone who actually use skill to aim to kill, or it will be too weak and no matter how good you are, you will never be an equal to a mouse/keyboard person.

If its near the strength of the H2 Xbox version, then thats going to cause uproar. And rightly so. It takes a certain amount of skill and judgement to shoot someone using a mouse and keyboard, and why turn that all pointless by adding autoaim?

If there is going to be an aimbot added, make it weak. Because playing with a controller is an added luxuary, not a right.

In short, dont bastardise this game and change the whole history of FPS's for the sake of console users/pad lovers. You already helped botch and leave to rot halo1 PC, so us PC gamers have a little right to say what we want in this one.

We are paying for it after all. Just like the last one we paid for, and never got supported.

Mice are much more accurate so auto-aim isn't needed.

Topic starter--let me clarify something...

Know why you had to shoot "2 cm" in front of your target in Halo PC? It's called LEADING YOUR SHOTS...

Auto-aim sucks, 'nuff said...

  • 08.28.2006 3:35 PM PDT

The thing is that I don't want to LEAD MY SHOTS AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT.

I do agree Auto-Aim will hamper the experience. Try having 4 Degrees Auto-Aim and play SP, you'll get bored real quick. People seem to be disputing the "amount of auto-aim" to be implemented. All I ask is enough so I don't have to lead my shots so far. I don't ask that the auto-aim be turned so high I shoot the guy's feet and it auto-aims his head. I mean when your reticle is over the guy on your screen, I would expect the hits to register rather than leading my shots about 2 cm in front of the guy and shoot air on my screen and have it register that way. It's more about having an easier time when aiming really.

I don't want to spend rediculous amounts of time training myself to lead shots. I'm a casual PC gamer, who wants an easier time than usual. You can call me a noob if you want, but it's what I want. Halo 2 PC shouldn't be limited to the regular PC gamers, it should be open to all in a friendly setting that everyone can use.

P.S. - For the record, Halo 2 on Xbox uses and Auto-aim of roughly (averaged out) of 0.13 (shotgun) to the lowest of 0.05 (magnum). The Auto-Aim isn't even 1 Degrees!

Halo 2 PC won't have auto-aim, simple as that. So if one of my opponents gets a headshot on me from across the map, I won't whine. I will, however, say something else as an excuse like, "WTF LAG!!!" or "ZOMG STUPID MOUSEZORS!!11!!!"

Guess what Fantasy, every online game has lag to varying degrees. And that means in every online game there's going to have to be some compensation for that lag. Autoaim will not compensate for the lag. and if you're too lazy to figure out how to compensate, then you have no business whining.

  • 08.28.2006 5:13 PM PDT

Last time I checked Auto-Aim compensated for Halo 2's lag.

No aimbots or auto aim.

Lolz, What makes you think an aimbot won't come out for h2pc?
The one I have for hpc is perfect.

In Halo2 the auto aim is so strong you can aim at someone walking in front of you and almost turn 90 degrees. Thats how bad it is. Also, there won't be AA in Halo2v. The only reason you had to lead in Halopc is because the NETCODE SUCKS. Hopefully, bungie has more sophisticated people working on Halo2v netcode.

I hope to hell that you are joking, nil.

The ONLY reason I can think of to include auto-aim is for the plasma weapons.
It makes sense: MC's armour is made of metal, right? Metal that has electonic circuitry in it, right? That would create magnetic fields, right? Magnetic fields could concievably conduct plasa, right?

im sorry for all you xbox players, but the reason i play hpc is because of no autoaim and mouse/joystick. i would never play h2v if there was auto-aim. thats like playing a racing game with auto-drive.

the friggin point of this game is to AIM. now LEARN TO DO IT.

Last time I checked Auto-Aim compensated for Halo 2's lag.

Then you didn't check very hard.

Aiming assistance, in any form, does NOT do anything to counter the effects of lag or latency.

Agreed. Its not to compensate for lag.

Besides, in theory halo2 vista shouldnt suffer from the same lag halo1 had, which was one of the worst ever in FPS's.

People lagging is when they suddenly warp across places, appear behind you, etc etc.

The only way to stop that is introduce a ping cap, which most games had. Of course, halo1, being made by gearbox and overlooked by the uncaring bungie didnt have this basic requirement.

As for leading your shots, well your playing a FPS right?

Your aiming a gun right? Takes skill to hit people yes?

So why do you have the right to be as good as other players that practice?

Sorry, but Ive little sympathy. Its generally acknowlaged that the more time you spend doing something, the better at it you get.

Maybe you had best stick to beginner servers if you dont play a lot. Or some such. Because its a game, and the people playing more often will generally be better than you. Thats life, and I dont see why someone who has the joy of getting a good, skilled headshot should be rivelled with someone who pops in with autoaim on, and less skill.

An autoaim that allows you to hit a target that needs a 2 cm lead gives a 4cm hitbox around that person. Given the normal size of MC when shooting at normal pistol range is about 1cm or less, you've given 5-10 times the normal area to shoot - is that what you say is a 'small amount of autoaim'?

I would like to bring up a side note that still pertains to auto-aim.

Many PC gamers claim that the mouse and keyboard > gamepads, which I whole-heartedly agree, when it comes to first person shooters, RTS games, and (MMO)RPGs. Now, let's focus on shooters. Let's talk about Huxley, a new shooter coming up for the Xbox 360 and to Windows Vista. How are you going to level the playing field for people who play with gamepads against those with mice and keyboards? You give auto-aim to the dudes playing on the consoles, leveling the playing field against those with mice and keyboard. Though I've no doubt that a competent player with mouse and keyboard could beat a player with a gamepad no matter how much auto-aim he/she has, I think that this is an effective way to level the playing field for future cross-platform shooters.

But whatever. Mouse and keyboard FTW!

Now ive played all of the currently releced halo games and i personally prefer the game pad but that might be because i have just used it more.

From experience when playing with friends on halo ce pc, when i used the game pad while they used keyboard and mouse it showed each control method was better for different things.

Up close i could move and turn faster because i could push more buttons at once when i needed to and i didnt have a mose that would rech the end of the table so it would have to be picked and moved back up before i could aim . I couldnt even use the sniper rifle because using the stick just didnt let me aim fast enough.

So in the end i ended up using keyboard and mouse because without auto aim the gamepad was useless!

  • 08.29.2006 12:59 PM PDT

All I'm really asking for is that I'm able to aim at the moving biped on my screen and have the hits register. Doesn't it strike anyone that aiming in front of a person and shooting air and have the hits register is awkward?

I'll put it another way. PC gamers KNOW that Client and Server never syncs perfectly, the end result on Client-side is that objects may not be there seconds later like if you close in on a player and you melee him, it won't register because on his screen he's like a few more feed ahead, but you can't tell the difference. Shooting people has the same outcome. If the lead was very tiny, then I wouldn't care, but the leading is noticable big on Halo PC. I just want some Auto-Aim to help alleviate the problems Client and Server has when they can never sync perfectly. Either a better netcode or auto-aim is fine by me. I like the Halo 2 experience on Xbox Live because I didn't have to crazily lead my shots like in Halo PC.

Noooo auto aim!!

Auto aim was an inherent neccesity on the XBOX version. You don't need auto aim on the PC. Look, no other PC games have auto aim.

Besides, everyone complaied about the auto aim on the XBOX version.

I don't think a sniper in realy life would have auto-aim.

But then agin in "realy" life people are not running around killing each other for no reason and running around. Auto-aim helps those who are not totall proz at the game and prevents them from getting pwned. so now that you dont want auto-aim maybee we should have wind so you have to adjust to something else so all you have to do is aim behind you to kill someone
