Sometimes, only sometimes this happens, after i get an exception my direct 3d/draw etc fails. so i do dxdiag and it shows one of the display settings blanked out so i cant re enable it. the only way to fix is to restart my pc. im a maw regular and i need ur guys's help. i havent been able to play halo pc flawlessy for months now. system specs: 1000mghz processor, 256 mb of ram,vid card: nvidia geforce 4 mx 4000. plzz help me i just wanna play halo. i dont wanna have to play counter strike forever.

It's probably because your computer can't handle halo. 256 mb RAM is no where near enough to run the game. Go out and buy another stick of ram and try re-installing halo, and if it still doesn't work go Here.

It's gotta be the RAM. there's not enough to handle all the info Halo's trying to shove down it's throat. Someone here said that exceptions happen when the maps don't load properly. In this case thier probably not loading fast enough causing the game to have a fit.

It could also be your video card, try updating your drivers as well. And try that site I suggested. It's got lots of fixes for the little quirks and foibles in the game.
