Now before you start flaming me, which will happen, read. This isnt some mindless arbitrary, and poorly thought out idea. Bungie has given us many great things (ex. Halo!) so here it is, OMG thanku Bungie you guyz are teh best! And im mean that sincerely. But at some point succesful companies have got to thank their customers. Its respectful and its good buisness philosophy. We are the reasons they make money, so, I think we deserve a thank you. Thats all...

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Shouldn't we be kissing their asses for being the coolest game company on Earth?

I mean, "Bungie needs to thank their fans more." How much more is there?

Fan Appreciation day ftw.

Well, for starters, they could send every Halo 2 player whose level is above 20 a shiny gold star sticker. I'd put mine on my controller! :)

They should definitely do something on 7/7/07

What? I'm not sure. But something........

Maybe sandwiches for everyone?

Fair enough.

Instead of working on Halo 3, overseeing the development of a PC port of Halo 2, overseeing work on a Halo movie, creating several closets worth of Halo swag (including posters, fluid containers, t-shirts, school gear, pens, a long-lived action figure line and more), and instead of making a website that acts as a link between the fans and the developers, an array of forums for discussing Bungie related topics, and giving the fans the ability to run their own customizable groups for their own discussion needs...

We'll write a "thank you" note.

Please. Don't you think you're being a little greedy? You may think it doesn't sound like much to ask us to write some kind of formal "thank you," but what you've done is dismiss everything we do for the fans because it doesn't feel enough to you like we worship you. It's actually fairly insulting, if you ask me, to just shrug off map packs, contests, news articles, and the like because you want some grovelling letter of appreciation.

Agreed. Bungie does not have to do anything but make the games for us. The community involvement from Bungie is unbelieveable. Rather, we should be thanking YOU for everything. I would just like you to know, on my own behalf, that I thank Bungie for everything. Consider a thank you to Bungie the first line in my signature.

He was just asking a question......

We're all well aware of the hard work Bungie is doing. But sometimes it feels a little distant when people ask things of you guys and nothing happens.

Stuff remains the same on the site, people continually ask for "this and that" and when you're dealing with that kind of stuff (the members), you tend to forget about the things we do have.

I'm sure that the community appreciates what you're doing. But this is a consumer market, and the fans wanting more is bound to happen. Not to mention, people think it's cool the way Bungie interacts with it's consumers, and thusly, we want more. That's all.

7/7/07 Bungie.net Barbeque ftw.

Thats a good idea. A Bungie.Net barbeque. I'll go out and buy the lmao steaks, you get the lol sauce and Shishka can bring the beer. Johnrap gets grill duty. Achronos can host it.

Would that be like a cup, water bottle, or an IV bag? Maybe a coffee mug that says "World's Greatest Game Developer"? Fluid containers....lol

On topic, I'd say Bungie is a very grateful company. They get extra points for being so while being owned by M$.

Bungie has done so much for us, the fans, that we should thank them freaking 1000 fold before they even consider making a big thank you for us.

This thread shows off members who're still not worldly-wise really well. I'd thank Bungie just once for giving us Halo. But a company as rich as they are, I think we do deserve a little more respect from the forum staff here. When I hear people say things like the guy I quoted, I ask him to remember that we gave them £75,000,000 on the first day of Halo 2. While I don't expect a thank you from them (Microsoft have already done that), they could show their customers a bit more than an announcement trailer on their next project from time to time.

Bungie's next project could be a book of excuses the way we've been treated. It'd probably be a best seller, helping thousands of 12 year olds everywhere give their teacher a 100% safe excuse for getting out of homework.

Shishka, if you wanted to show the fans 'real' appreciation, that map pack would've been free from the start, and there would have been more maps made for Halo 2 by now. Using the old 'would you want to detract from us making Halo 3' excuse would just be a really lame thing to do. I'm sure Microsoft has a load of talented people that could make new maps for Halo 2. Thing is, you don't want to it seems. So you throw the Halo 3 excuse our way.

Well I only hope that Halo 3 doesn't get as boring as Halo 2 at this point. I play it every night still, but that's because I still love Halo. I only hope it's because you're giving Halo 3 the ability to have new vehicles and characters as DL content. And I'm going to end my rant now because I know better by now (better in the way of I hate arguing with a brick wall).

He's just voicing his opinion as a Consumer. It's just the way the market goes. We are what's keeping Bungie alive. Without us, they're nothing. So (and I'm not trying to put words in his mouth) Jay is fullfilling his role in the relationship between what the Buyer wants, and what the Seller is giving him.

*edit*But I'm still grateful for what Bungie has done for us. You both have valid points.

You missed the point like Vader missed the banshee, your whole argument is covered in bees.
Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

as far as I'm concerned bungie does a lot for it's fans the only thing i would complain about is the time bungie said "We make a game that WE like..." i was almost as insulted as the time i heard kaz harai say "People will just have to work hard to afford a ps3" i mean rockstar studios always listen to their fans and put their ideas into the games and because they are smart enough to tell apart the good ideas from the bad they include the best ones.

i Love bungie and they make great games but why don''t they consider at least some fan ideas into the games they make? (The good ideas)

This probably the 100th thread like this. But yes, Thank you Bungie.

Worse than dismissing what is done for the fans is dismissing what is done, and then attempting to set terms for what you want done. Let alone the part where you basically tell us that, despite being a business, we failed to show appreciation to the fans by not choosing to lose money (that is ultimately spent on things things for the fans), and then telling us how our business structure "should be," like you have any clue.

That's just egotistical.
