The Underground is making a steady and sad spiral downward. Many people do not come here because there is just a lot of bull. It is time we do something about it. We don't care if you beat halo on legenadary or your friend broke your halo CD. The forum says we discuss anything and everything bungie. Right now that is Halo 2. Also everybody thinks that they must post something. They don't care what it is they just must post something. A good example of a good thread is today's "Truly Cunning Creative Cartogriphy" started by Northshore89. It shows thought and people made an effort in it. You could read thrugh it and not fall asleep. Most are sadly not like that, some go by without a sigle reply. People will put up HALO 2 SUCKS for attention. To stop this we must not only not post this crap, but also not reply to it. The Septagon makes an effort to keep its forum clean, and it is better, though not perfect. Sometimes I don't want to improve the Seventh Column and take over the world, I just want to talk about Halo 2. But the Underground has become a place where people post the bull-blam!- that they have stored up. Some people aren't out there to be bad though. They just want attention, or maybe they aren't doing anything wrong they just don't know what to post and what not to. HERE IS WHAT YOU DO: YOU POST GOOD STUFF LIKE THE EXAMPLE ABOVE AND DONT POST SOMETHING ALREADY POSTED. Also we could do with less flaming. Are goal is to make this a good forumn without having a hundred bad posts before a good one. This is a serious concern.

It is inevitable...the more popular something becomes, the more people want to be involved. And that includes all manner of human excrement. Unfortunately, I don't have a suggestion on dealing with this...yet. I've already given myself 49 migranes in the past week working the ol' grey matter.
But might I ask what if I wanted to talk about Marathon? Speaking of which...

EDIT: Whoa...49. Almost missed that one! There's a coincidence.

I don't mean to bash your post...

But how long have you been around The Underground again to see this "steady and sad downward spiral"?

Spam is to be expected in any forum; show me a forum where there is no spam, and I'll present you with a flock of flying pigs. Spam is inevitable, and it shouldn't be surprising to see it

Spam is basically being circulated through here at the same rate as before - and by before, I mean before the new site came up. The only difference now is that there are more people, on both the SPAM-side and the NONSPAM-side

Don't lose sleep over it

I'm not saying this forum is stupid, but there are times I get really pissed because I can't find a single thread that would interest me or any sane person. And though I'm relatively new, this post is based on the word of other much older members. My hairs aren't turning grey over it but I sure wish I could come here anytime and look at something interesting. Maybe it's not that bad but still...

The Underground is (currently) the melting pot of the b.net forums. While the Halo PC'ers have a forum, and the b.net support forum is there, everything else goes into the Underground.

And guess what? That's fine, for now. People are going to want to brag about their Halo skills. This is just as good a place to do it as anywhere else. People who try to post simply to get attention are reprimanded as soon as stosh or I find the thread.

And there are people here that don't necessarily have a Halo 2 related topic to talk about. Some people want to discuss something related to the first Halo. others still have asked questions about Bungie's previous games. This is just fine.

For you, fossie, I have two suggestions. First, if you don't think a thread is any good, don't read it. It's that simple.

Second, don't make posts like these. You're not a moderator, and posting only to complain to others how they post does nothing but adds to the mess. Essentially, I see this thread you've started as part of the problem. YES, there's a lot of junk in the Underground, NO you don't have the right to tell people what they can and cannot post. There are literally thousands of posts made every week, because we're not discriminatory towards who can and cannot post. Right now, the majority of that goes to the Underground, because there's nowhere else for it to go. This will change, but for now, I suggest you just cope with it.
