Subject: "member" statuses

You know, there are killers and rapists who joined the world much earlier than I did. Should we give them higher social status for being older then me?

I'd like it, but I can't see it likely.

The Veteran Member thing sounds cool, but it would promote Elitism; the reason Member Since dates were deleted (well, you know...).

I like the active member thing. -_-

Spammers, however, would have a field day.

Anyway, I'd like it, but it won't happen.

It's all perspective-based.

It's basically where Stosh will interpret it differently than Yoozel.
Whereas Stosh will, with his flowers and silly, see "For teh win!", Yoozel would see something much more Emo, such as "-blam!- the world."

See?

.. That's a terrible example, what am I saying?

Pssh. Who needs grammar anyway? I mean, it's not like it's a rule or anything :-)

But yes. We don't need member statuses, per se. But I'm still thinking of the idea of implementing some form of .........ehhh, I don't want to say "alliance," but rather "preference" for your most view forums.

Like in the vacant area under our "Last post" we can have a "preferred forums" mini-list?

But alas, someone will find a way to make it elitest. Sillies.

Elitism is bad, and using math to explain your point is even worse.

I don't really like the style of this current site, but it'll always be at least better than members who think they're better because they have more posts or a longer join date, which is why both have been removed.

Sure...

Okay, ummm...Right, statuses, these would not work, it just can't be done here until people either: Grow up or leave. I'm sorry to say but it wouldn't work. I wouldn't mind seeing it, but at the moment it is extremely unlikely.

I wouldn't be elitest about it.... I would have the title but it wouldn't affect me because the very bestest, fantastic, I mean my best character trait is my amazing humbleness.
oh, and I'm not narcicistic either.

You may not be elitist about it, but more than likely, other people would. Such is the way of human nature.

There would be problems with that. SPAMS and all sorts, the Bungie.net ranks are perfect the way they are

I think that there should be some way to change your status on the bungie forums, just to give you a little bit of prestige over other, such as if you have been a member for over 3 years then you become a "Veteran Member" or something similar, or if you have over 200 posts or something then you become an "Active Member", just an idea and im wondering what others think of this.

You have no prestige over other users. You are not your post count. You are not your join date. The moment you start thinking of yourself as more "prestigious" over other users is the moment you should fear the flicker of silver-blue light that is the flash of my bankatana. There is enough ego on this website as it is without users looking for excuses to look down on other members.

Bankatana? I thought all Mods used a hammer?

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Ninja use katana. The banhammer is it's own thing, I think.

Oh, and, like everyone else has said, it's not a good idea. It would be even worse than the join dates.

All members are equal, but some members are more equal than others.

Also, it's Recon that uses the Ban Katana. Shishka just stole it or something.
