I must have missed the memo- when did we get this? Wasn't it always like "coming soon tm" or something?

And why isn't it showing when people registered anymore?

search feature came a few days ago.
and the member since date was erased to make us all equal in chairman achronos's communist website. :-P jk

it was erased to prevent flame wars arising from people feeling superior because of the join date. (even though if someone really wanted to know they'd just have to look at the member's profile).

The Search Feature is compliments of Runningturtle, the other primary programmer of the site ( I thinks)

And the "Member Since" was removed a couple weeks ago.

I think it is less used then the Forums, so it should be under them.

Jim requested that join dates be removed to lessen elitism. Achronos heard his subordinate's call and told him that he'd work on it. Here we sit, on thing lost and one thing gained. Achronos is the best.

Could we have something along the lines of an "on-line/off-line" status in place of the "Member since?"

Or possibly a list of our favorite Forums (just a thought, but it would promote elitism for some people I suppose.)

The only way that I would be in favor of such an indicator is if it could be (at member discretion) disabled or opted out of.

Example, if someone (like you) decides to enable it on their profile, it would show either "online" or "off-line" in the relevant field.

If someone else (like me) decides that they do not want their status to be visible (either off or on), they do not activate the feature and nothing displays in the field.

It would allow lurkers to properly maintain their lurking status.

Fair enough. I failed to mention the importance of you guys keeping yourselves "in the shadwos."

But all too often, we experience those moments where we have to go and you sign out, but people still think you're on.

Many a time a PM has been sent and I'm already tucked away, snuggled and asleep.

An online status indicator would help people say "Oh, he/she is offline. I'll talk to them later." Not to mention, we should make it look nice. Something..........fresh.

But then, perhaps, if you blocked a specific user, they could not see if you were online? I'd actually like something like that, considering people didn't feel like it reached a cold, sweaty hand into their privacy..

... Err, considering people didn't feel like it helped lurkers, lurk.

Ice, I see your grammar has permenantly improved, thank you.

Anyway, what you really need is a word from Achronos about how much work this would take. You could message him. Sometimes he replies, sometimes he doesn't. Two days ago I messaged him about a typo in the Halo 2 Vista FAQ, never got a reply and it hasen't been fixed. Oh well. Anyway, you could either do that or he could 'drop by' and give us his wise word.

You remember the "old me?" LoL, good times (well, not really ^_^)

That's a good idea. I've message the Overlord before and he does sometimes reply, sometimes not. I guess that comes with the responsibility of him being "Everywhere and Nowhere at the same time."

:-)

Who knows?

He does. Or does he? He can be with someone's mom, managing the site, AND be playing Halo 2 at the same time, creating a pleasurable experience in all three areas. Innuendo rules.

While this is a great accomplishment, which I would've rather had a looooong time ago; I want to kill James at the same time because I was somewhat proud of my join date. Although, its not like it really matters. Numbers and dates don't make a person, the words they speak do.

For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

"Lazy -zapp!-, what the hell are you doing playing with me? Get to work lazy ass."

I've learned many things in my years of being a website administrator (aka a person to whine and complain problems to), and I think that for some things, he really just doesn't give a damn. Though on quite a larger scale, I can see sort of how he feels.

Though only if I'm right about it. I know I wouldn't care about a small grammar mistake when I have engines and scripts to build that would take months.

True. But he is the only one I know of that can edit an article or FAQ or whatever. Who else can that would be 'less' occupied?

Maybe someone that deals more with the content and community of the website rather than the actual programming and debugging. Though I wouldn't count too much on Ske7ch, Frankie, or the webmaster. Possibly KPaul, he would be your best shot.

I was thinking KPaul, myself. I'll just let it go, it is a misspelling of the word 'move'. Though I am one of those members who notices pointless -blam!- like that.

What if the user had control of the online/offline status, rather than it being automatic? It would always be displayed in the profile/under the name, but instead of having it display "onine" whenever you logged on, you had the option to turn it on when you wanted you be seen as "online". If that's too much for some, then you could have the option to have it automatically display weither or not you were online.

Yeah, it's nothing serious. I mean, who would want to go all the way there, put in all the passwords, just do all that bullcrap, search for it, when people have better things to do? It's just....useless.
