I say you guys should sue Weekly World News for copyright infringement. Then Bungie will have enough money to buy out Microsoft, and be one step closer to world domination.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

Almost 14 years of sex appeal and the Marathon logo still hasn't lost its touch.

That couldn't be the Martian flag of surrender that the magazine describes is it? "The rarest is the Martian flag of surrender, which has never been used." :P

Those without swords can still die upon them.

Haha this is so random. Is it Microsoft company policy to post tabloid references on official sites?

I wonder if this is some kind of hidden Bungie Easter Egg. You know like the Cortana letters, or I love bees, there has to be one for Halo 3. Maybe Weekly World News and them have teamed up, but more than likely Im completely insane. But on a side note, I wonder if there will be something like I love bees for Halo 3. If not I will be completely disapointed

wait for it...

I know this is off topic but since Frankie seems to look at this thread, I figured I'd asked, How did your panel go at PAX, did you answer the age old question about how Bungie feels about its fans.

Went great. I told the fans I wanted to make out with (some of) them.

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."--Albert Einstein
We are all dirty, dirty Shisnos.

Inside the newspaper article there were two dates: February 21, 2005 (a monday) and November 14 (might be 11), 2005 (the 14th is a monday and the 11 is a friday). The question is whether or not there there is an issue of the Weekly World News on those days, or if Bungie posted a story on their front page either of those days. If so could there be some possible clues as to what the hell this post meant?

Edit: There was an article on November 14, 2005, in which one of the articles covered the bat boy who looks mysteriously like Frankie Bat Boy. The Bat Boy also resembles the alien in the article to a degree.

Hey, Frankie, is this like an Easter Egg hint for Halo 3? Like there will be hidden flags instead of skulls? Because all signs point to that. "Flag collecters"...see? There's skull collecters.

Man that's illegal isn't it? Can't you sue them or something? Copyright Infringement or something, the can't just use that symbol without Bungie's permission.

That's an interseting point but why would Bungie go to a tabloid magazine that only complete nutcases read to distribute a Halo 3 secret?

I think what we found out, is how many people don't know about Marathon,

Maraton is a really old Bungie game (check out the Where to Download Oldskool bungie games, if you want to try it out) The symbol on the flag is the main symbol for marathon (you can check it out by when editing your halo2 icon, go to the "Marathon" option)

Wait.
If you noticed this a week ago, then why does the date at the bottom of the second pic say august 28, 2006? Was the picture altered?

CJ Cowan spotted it. He claims he accidentally picked it up instead of the new yorker.

Riiiiiiiiiight. I guess that's what happens when you have no air conditioning.
