its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

We all visit the Flood, to share issues and lives, to talk about the world and beyond. But this forum is degrading, now less welcoming than ever. So I am posting this to request a new rule to be enforced in the Flood.

* No put-downs, rudeness, or meaning-less posts.

Some call this spam, others not. But this is different than spam, because these kind of posts have a different structure than spam, as spam, is...well...spam, you know, posts such as

ajddauifasdasjdadahdha...

...but these posts continue to bombard the Flood, and degrade it more and more. Here is what I define put-downs and rudeness:

Posts that are not even remotely related to the thread on hand, it's only purpose is to put down the topic and creator.

Such post's include, but not limited to:

Who cares
My Balls
Your Mom
Booga Booga
My Butt
My ***** wants to say hi to you.
...and others posts that point out the obvious...

...when the topic is "My favorite band."

Here's an example

These posts are common, and are commonly responded with "If you have nothing to say, don't post." But this common response, should be enforced. That way, the topic on hand would be intelligent conversation, rather than pointless puns and put-downs. Because, the question is, "Why do you post if it has nothing related to the topic on hand?" These kind of posts have no right place in the community, only to degrade it. So I request that these posts should be banned, and all those that do continue to make them, to be punished. And honestly, I think this rule should be in place for all forums, as I am really concerned for the community now, and this should be a first step for a better Bungie.net.

Something to add along the lines of that, would it be possible to blacklist people for making absolutely pointless posts? The ones where someone has asked a question and some moron responds with "I don't know." Those tick me off, it's like the person responding is asking for attention, only very subtly. Similar to what raven is talking about, but it's not a put-down and is not rude.

For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

"Lazy -zapp!-, what the hell are you doing playing with me? Get to work lazy ass."

*armatik agrees.

This is getting on my last nerves, to say the least here. It is very annoying, especially when people like woca and others that don't do any good for anyone, and they're just bored so they post like a goddamn isomniac. I think that for several offenses, they need a 3 day ban, or 7 day, whichever deemed fit by the moderator. It's seriously getting out of hand.

Free speech means absolutely nothing here. This is not a country, it is the internet. More specifically, Bungie.net, where rights don't exist.

Code of conduct:
The Short Version:

Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice.

The Long Version

(For those of you who enjoy the various ramblings of various Bungie employees or who simply need a more detailed description on what "play nice" means.)
Love Thy Neighbor

Or at least tolerate them publicly.

Ahem. The Bungie.net Web Site comprises various Web pages, including Bungie.com, Bungie.net, "7th Column" and Bungie Store operated by Microsoft or its affiliates (collectively, the "Bungie Web Sites").

The Bungie Web Sites and the services provided therein are not to be used to transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable content, as determined by any Bungie Web Sites employee, designee or admin. This includes material which a user may find embarrassing or which may cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfort to them. It also includes vulgar and abusive language, even when masked by symbolic characters, and includes login names, screen names and club names.

We reserve the right to remove, at any time and without notice, any user or group for violations of this Code of Conduct.

The impersonation of any Bungie or Microsoft employee is (as you might expect) completely forbidden, as is the impersonation of any other Bungie Web Sites user. Spamming should not even be contemplated. Spam includes sending identical and irrelevant or unsolicited submissions to many different users, and includes misrepresenting the source of anything you post.

Users use Bungie Web Sites at their own risk and of their own volition.

Render Unto Caesar

Neither Bungie nor Microsoft allows behavior or content related to illegal activities. If you violate the law, you will be responsible for the consequences. You cannot use Bungie Web Sites to publish, post, distribute, or disseminate defamatory, infringing, obscene, or other unlawful material or discussion. This includes, but is not limited to, child -blam!-, bestiality, incest, illegal drugs, software and other forms of piracy, racketeering, money laundering, blackmail, murder, prostitution, slavery, lumpy pudding (if its not illegal, it should be), fraud, cannibalism, theft, vigilantism, harassment, and acts of treason.

You may not use Bungie Web Sites for the purpose of linking to external sites that violate this Code of Conduct.

Do not upload files or post messages that contain photos, music, software or other material protected by intellectual property laws, rights of privacy or publicity, or any other applicable law unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents. Neither Bungie nor Microsoft is responsible for any use of material posted by users.

While we're on the subject of intellectual property, we'd like to remind you that plagiarism is strictly forbidden on the Bungie Web Sites. Do not claim authorship of anything you did not actually create yourself.

Do not post or promote any materials that contain destructive content such as viruses, worms, Trojan horses or other materials that could harm or disrupt another user's computer or would allow others to inappropriately access software or web sites.

In addition to upholding this Code of Conduct, you are responsible for adhering to all applicable local and national laws.

We offer you the ability to create multiple communication services; however, we take no responsibility for the structure or content in these areas. The creators or hosts of these user-created areas are required to agree to and uphold this Code of Conduct before creating their respective groups or clubs and are liable for all activities and content. The Bungie Web Sites are not designed as the primary place to store any materials; you are responsible for creating backups of materials you post to any group or club such as photos and documents. Neither Bungie nor Microsoft are responsible for loss of access to, deletion, alteration, or restoration of any materials associated with a group or club and reserves the right to remove any user-created content from the Bungie Web Sites at any time without notice.

It's a request to the moderators to turn that into a rule, so people would listen.

No, but seriously, most people don't know the definitions. When people think spam, they think of a random sequence of letters and numbers, and by flaming, they think of a heated battle between each other. That is what most people think when they hear about spamming and/or flaming. So my position is that a whole new rule be put in place is much more easier than redefining spam and flaming to the majority. Not to mention that newcomers will most likely define “spam” and “flame” the same way I defined above. So maybe, in the rules thread, there should be a clear and concise definition for “spamming” and “flaming.” And to tell you the truth, you can walk into most threads, and you'll most likely find one of the examples of what I listed as "put-downs." So to sum it up, I think it should be more strictly enforced.

We do have to remember that quite a few of the members who break the rules don't read the rules in the first place. So making better definitions of what members should not do would not help too much, since members would still break the rules anyways. I suppose that a few quick edits could clear up any possible confusion, but they wouldn't actually help to cut down on trouble-makers. However, a slightly harsh punishment can mean a lot when used correctly. I think that members would get the idea better if their post were deleted and they were sent a "cease and desist," but that's just me.

You don't -blam!- with Shishka. He'll eat you alive.
Anyway, I don't go to the Flood. Once in a while. I visit the Classifieds more than I do the Flood. That forum, while you are still required to follow rules, is loosely moderated. If Shishka wants to go in there and crack some skulls, fine with me, it wont affect me. But the Flood is the most active forum on this site, surpassing even the Halo 3 forum. If the straps are to be tightened in the Flood, it will take more than just Shishka, even as powerful as he is (hint to other Moderators). However, as with all Moderators on all sites, what requires a thread to be locked, a warning to be given, a user to be blacklisted, and to have a user's account ravaged completely is at a Moderator's discretion. Shishka rules with little to no tolerance, while some of the newer Moderators like Bob cut you some slack.

In the end, most of the Veterans say that The Flood goes through cycles. I know nothing about that, I only joined a few months ago. All I know is that the Flood needs fixed, going by the word of Flood goers.

It does seem to do that now that I think of it. I agree that, at the moment, it seems to be at its low point, I'm sure (hopefully) it will get better at some time, just give it some time and let the new people get used to what is supposed to go on in the forums. I'd like to see better discussion go on in there myself, but right now I feel I can't do that.

Ahh RUN!!!

Anyways, as it would be nice and appreciated by most people in The Flood, there are people who just want to spam, flame and just be morons. Who ever said that The Flood goes through cycles, that makes sense, and it also seems there's a new pointless argument ie the Rap -vs- Rock war (that one hurt) and the Sony -vs- Everyone semi war, it's rather unstable The Public forums (no offense to the Ninja's, actually The Ninja's do a terrefic job) but it's how much disagreement there is and how people just don't really care about anyone but themselves. That's why I spend most of my time in groups, because I'm among who I can have fun with and who agree with me.

I would like to see some changes in the forum rules, like no "Sony -vs- Everyone" or anything that pitts one thing against another. *Sighs* a man can dream.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

If you think the flood is bad, well I should say that "It's spreading" I've encountered a thread in the Underground forums that the Subjected read: -blam!-. Now clicking into the thread seeing if he had a reasonable explanation, the Body read: -blam!- -blam!- -blam!-.
