I'm going to get the game mostly because I really enjoyed Halo PC, and the map maker grabbed my attention.

Sure, there are some good games for the PC, but.... MAP MAKER

I feel that Halo 2 Vista is only a push to get more unit sales for Windows Vista. The only reason one would upgrade "primarily" to the end-user is to get the graphical bells and whistles.

Goweb, I did overlook the mod aspects of Halo 2 Vista, but in my opinion I'd want more than just that. New options sir, Online Co-op would be dandy. Online Co-op is a hot topic in FPS today on the PC. I recall that the recognizable modern game to feature Online Co-op is Doom 3, then Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory followed up and now Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter has it as well. You know what I'm going at right? You can't use the mod aspect to gain a feat such as Online Co-op.

You could not be further from the truth. How many people are going to buy a new OS just to play ONE SINGLE GAME?

Fact of the matter is, that soon all the new games being released are going to be made for Vista. Not just Halo2.

Halo2's release isn't going to prompt people to go out and buy Vista. They're going to buy Vista for the added security and useability of the new OS.

Bungie would probably get more sales of Halo2 if they made it for both Vista and XP. And I'm sure they thought of that before they began coding the game. But they're coding it for Vista for some reason beyond the scale of most peoples comprehension, either that or they flatly refuse to see the logic that Vista will offer a substantially improved user experience. Halo2 or not.

I think the better question to ask is: How many people are going to buy a new console just to play ONE SINGLE GAME?

It seems to me it's the same situation, and the answer is quite apparent. LOTS!

I can't help but partially agree with some of the people of there, when you think about it, Halo 2 was a pretty bad game, but the multiplayer, skulls and other easter eggs rocked! Besides, it's not that much of a "first to fire wins" kind of game, every weapon has a strategy to be beaten, if not, you can piss off the enemy by riding the Ascension grav lift repeatedly :)

"and besides, we'll be getting free online play" :D

That is the exact reason i'm getting the PC. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't touch it. :D I love playing Halo PC for the multiplayer.

However, my dad (Also a huge fan of Halo) claims that Microsoft will make people pay to play Halo 2 Vista through the use of Windows Live.

that'd be a smart move to charge people.

hah. paying for non-mmo multiplayer for the PC isn't gonna happen. Otherwise all you'll get is a couple of small, -blam!- idiot-filled "official" servers while proper server hosts abandon the game in their droves.

I'll be getting it for the custom maps and mods (maybe a "high res texture" mod like for Half Life 2), and secretly for the reduced auto-aim. Judging from that video, it really does look like the hotboxes arn't as... vague.

Frankie himself said it wont cost anything to play online, I cant be assed to trawl for it as it was a while ago, but unless hes talking bull, then it wont be.

And if it is, they can FO, because Im not paying to play online. Valve manage to do it free, so microsoft can.

Im not buying halo2 if you have to pay for online play. Its that simple.
