Read about the Forgotten Spartan I Program
Butane: To protect the world from devastation!
sir_brilliant: To unite all people within our nation!
Rainman89: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
sir_brilliant: To extend out reach to the stars above!
SpaceGhostFlyer: Jessie!
Butane: James!
sir_brilliant: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light
Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

The only reason I use the mod club joke is because TGP has no scruples.

Honestly, the people who suck up do suck, but we really should just ignore them- if mods act friendly to people they know, and even let some flaming slide, people will see that they don't get friends because people suck up.

And if people who aren't mods start getting treated the same way, like us saying "pwnd by mabian", or "lol banshee that was good", people will realise that TGP has no scruples, and that is all we really need.

Oh and dmbfan, I think if you ban the next person who makes a mod thread, that would... no wait, all the reponses would be "pwNd by dumbfan tee hee, i r teh mod's frind"

So I say we give them all the cold shoulder.

I went on a moderator topic locking spree a while ago, but that spree didn't last long since it was a losing battle. From now on, threads about moderators are not allowed (unless it's about how we can improve and such). Sound good?

Please make some sort of FAQ and make a link in the "Septagon Stickies" thread first. It's going to help a lot more in the long run, since it will actually provide an answer to the people who have serious questions.

LAWLZ, pwnd by Mabian ;)

But yes, I think the Moderator FAQ in HFCS needs to be brought back into the main forums.

Right, let's get this show on the road.

Err...I can't drive. Someone else will have to take the wheel.

And it only took me two edits! Grammar ftl and extra spaces in the links ftl.

It's a start. So in the future, all Mod-related threads that deal with questions (i.e. "How do you become a Moderator?") shall be taken care of. The members can do their part by linking the Thread creators to the FAQ provided, and nothing more.

Aye, that's one less problem to worry about. The Septagon deserves a pat on the back.

When people screw up and post what they're not meant to, which we know they'll inevitably do, we'll simply link them to the post. Remember, we learn from our mistakes. =)

What can I say? I'm an annoying jerk. I'm not sure there's anything I can say that would explain it better.

No, I think you're one of those people who actually is nice to everyone. The rest of us refuse to believe that such people really do exist. I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.

On another note:

I find it funny how a lot of the people in this thread talk about how "mod threads" are a problem, yet they are the same people that post in every thread that somehow relates to the mods, hoping for a little mod luvin.

Hypocritical much?

I fess up to that, but what I do is provide a link to HFCS and then maybe a Hippo joke here and there.

But ultimately, I'm just trying to help. Because a couple weeks after I became a consistent poster (back in April) I made my first "Moderator" thread. Asking the typical How do you become one, what do they do?, etc. (This was in The Flood btw.)

And I was greeted with actual kind responses and a few PM's that showed me the mod group. Since then, I have been more than willing to help answer questions.......to "return the favor" so to speak.

I also made a thread titled "Which ninja has the best Avatar?" But I intentionally left it open to Theme Masters, Bungie Employees, etc., but we all associate custom avatars with the Moderators.

That was a while ago and I've had some time to just sit back and watch Bungie.net. I don't make threads that often, so I just reply to "Moderator Threads" to help, get a few laughs, etc. But lately, those threads became flame wars (for reasons that won't be brought up) and I guess the community is just sick of it all.

So yeah, I admit that I've used the "Mod club becomes you" line. Guilty as charged. But I'm always sure that I post a link that I believe to be helpful, then partake in some of the humour on the side. But we all agree that this has to stop (because it's getting too repetitive) and hopefully we can do our part by linking people to the FAQ in the Sticky.

Sorry to say it TGP, but it wasn't even funny then...

Yeah, I think it does. Honestly I'm getting sick of the moderator threads as much as the mods. They are annoying. So please peoples (Yes the s is there intentionally) just stop with the moderator threads, they're a waste of space.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

As for Face Dancer XI, well, you get to make fun of him, lol. And honestly Shai, why do you have a snake as an avatar?

Don't worry, Josher. I love you, too.

Is there really a need for the [/sarcasm] in saying this?

And to be fair, I did use a snake emblem for a time. And everyone yelled at me for it. Now I have a little galaxy-shaped thing that works pretty well.

Now, back on topic:

Gentlemen, we've got trolls.

Right, but not only are these threads regarding modship trollish, it's also spam. There are places in the rules and FAQs of the forums where it already says how the mods were picked. If people don't want to read the rules, then they don't deserve to be on the site. Hell, these threads don't even belong in the Septagon! They do nothing for the community. Nothing. It just adds to the terrible amount of clutter that this site acquires.

To make the rules regarding mods more clear, I agree with with Ash, Rainman, and Iceman; there should be a stickied thread regarding Moderators. Something everyone should notice before they make a thread asking how to become a moderator, or the general kiss-ass words of crap.

Threads like the ones in question should be locked or deleted. They are spam. I don't really see why moderators persist in having them open. Most moderators loathe the attention, and hate being kissed up to.

I'm actually beginning to wonder if some of the mods keep the kiss-ass threads around because they like it. The moderators who decide to give so much as a witty reply to ass-kissing or threads that bait them seem to be guilty of this. Not that it's really something bad to be "guilty" of, but it shows a rather large ego in them, which to me is not admirable (but people seem to admire it anyway). Hell, some mods even make threads that bait attention itself!

Whether they like having their precious egos boosted or not (only the mods who actually seem to like it), I think they need to ignore those threads at the very least. Maybe locking is unnecessary, but for crying out loud, why do you even reply to threads that are obviously baiting you to do just that?

I must agree with you. Mod topics are getting old they were fun for a while but are getting very tedious. Maybe, Achronos or one of the other Bungie employees, could possibly add to the rules something about mod topics. I dunno, it might possibly work the search feature isn't doing all that well.

(Alot of good stuff)

I agree with the fact that the threads should be classed as spam. I admit I do reply to such threads but rarely as to further the mysteriousness of the moderators, which is what everyone else seems to do.

I usually post to stop people saying "you get taken by the soul into the server closet lol!" and try to actually answer the question originally posed.

I think that is much of the problem - people losing sight of the main objective. In our case, to delete bad threads. Not to create an urban myth about yourself.

I think that I understand the reasoning behind this.... but still.

I know that we're being requested to post more to explain our actions (when blacklisting or locking). We're also being asked to post our views and opinions on various discussions.

You dont have to any of that though. From what i understand, is that there are mods that do their stuff from the shadows without ever posting a word.
