Actually I think blocking teleporters with hogs is an okay strategy and blocking entrances to bases is also OK as long as the vehicle is not inside the base. Its because it only restricts the use of the teleporter but it doesn't kill them. Camping near port and running over or blasting anyone that come thru is a weak noob tactic.
It's a slippery slope. Problem is that it's hard to explain to someone that blocking an entrance to a base is ok, but taking it 5 feet inside is not ok. Usually if I'm playing and there is someone on my team who feels he/she must block entrances, I leave. It just shows that he/she doesn't have a firm grasp of the tactics of the game. Once you block your own entrance, you limit your team's ability to get powerful weapons as well as setting up scouting positions that can relay info back to base, e.g. "inc from tunnels in 5 seconds." Anyway, your rules though, and I have no problem abiding by them.
I somewhat agree... yes, it's a slippery slope. But I feel that there are situations where it's stupid to take a vehicle into a tunnel, (Danger Canyon for example is usually certain death for the hog crew though even then it might be woth trying if your enemy is tank camping the middle), but Sidewinder's tunnels was meant for ghosts and hogs. Also, the map designers made some doorways too small for vehicles and others they fit through. If it fits it goes as long as it makes strategic sense, is my approach.
Gerhyphobia has ghosts spawn on the lower level and they fit right in the enterances. Most people don't park outside and walk in. Personally, I usually find it's best to take the ghost 3/4 the way through the lower enterance tunnel, pull a 180 degree turn, walk in for the flag, jump down, run into the tunnel, jump on the ghost and get away. But that's if the base is near empty. If it's full, plow on into the crowd, fly up to the flag, grab it and go.
I've seen people do absolutley stupid things with vehicles in bases, like fill the BG base with vehicles so nobody could get the flag, (there was no vehicle respawn), or stuff the tunnel in Danger Canyon so the enemy had to come through the canyon, but so did their flag carrier because nobody could get through. Even camping the flag is pretty dumb since one nade overturns the hog– sitting hogs are sitting ducks.
But most of the time vehicles in bases or tunnels are dumb for the vehicle driver and crew, and when my enemy is dumb, I'm happy.
I guess it's multi-vehicle spawn-killing baserape that is a problem. I wish there was a way to change the spawn in points.
