To me, they are very hard in their own ways, In Halo CE, it was difficult, if your healthbars got to the red zone, you would have a real disadvantage compared to halo 2, In halo 2, levels like cairo station and gravemind were to me, cruel and nearly impossible, cairo station was murder, and gravemind was plain evil, most of the weapons the enemies used were plasma weapons, a second when being hit by a brute plasma rifle rips away on your shields and you die. The accuracy of carbines and beam rifles is also problamatic.
Getting back to Halo CE, the wraiths in the game were cruel in any difficulty, in legendary, the proper way for me is using a rocket launcher or even a tank, using grenades was risky, other than that, if your with a wraith alone, then you could slowly put it to death with well manuvered ghost. As for Aoftcr, If I hate one thing, its being in a tank on legendary, only to find your shields, depleted by a jackal, then being owned by two ghosts.
The fun thing on some levels in both games, is that, it pays to be an assassin, it can be fun, assassinating sleeping grunts or breaking a elites back. Although I had to revert most of the time when caught. In the first arbiter level, it's fun being an assassin on legendary, forcing you to be stealthy and pick off most of the units before fighting.
