The simple fact of the matter is that halo has a crappy netcode. Unless you have like a 1000gb connection then you can't hope to avoicd lag. And since that doesn't excist, your screwed.

You sure??? I have seen people with a 'negative' ping. But nothing that obscene normally -66 is the lowest I've seen. But then I have always had sense they where uing a mod or a hack in those games.

Yah, there is. When the score screen gets haxxord. I was playing a game on some obscure server, and I hit F1, and lo and behold, this guy's name stretched off the end of the screen.

no i mean actual ping, not a scoreboard bug, there is no such thing as negative ping.

Notice how I had put the word negative in brackets?

Of course you can't have negative ping, thats psyhically impossible.

If you're some uber-l33t haxxor, you can make your machine host, then the game would show you having negative ping. Maybe. I dunno.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

For a few days now on the Bungie CTF servers, some nub known as "~" has been running around with a ping fluctuating from 300-700. You cannot hit him. In almost all the games he played, he capped all 3 times using ghosts, hogs, or shees. The only way to hit him was to either get really lucky and guess where you thought we was going, or wait for the "enemy has the flag" while camping the flag and immediate fire a rocket at him. Many people asked him to quit or called him a cheater. He ignored all of us and just kept on capping. He obviously knew what he was doing and loved it. Here I am with a 33 ping frustrated beyond belief.

I can deal with tkers, I can deal with AFK and complete idiots, but for all intensive purposes, this guy was a cheat. The guy was warping so badly I almost couldn't believe it. If Halo 2 does not address this issue, they will have some very unhappy customers. H2V should be strictly broadband only, plus it needs kick players with packet loss.

Heyyo,

No-lag is an advertising term these days. People plaster it on dedicated server offerings, and server names to entice the gamers to go there. The only way to make a game of halo non-lagged, is to play HaloCE (Custom Edition) and use the Delaggonator. That thing worked miracles. I used to play with MuffMeister, and had a ping of over 200, and still, I shot him in the face with the pistol, and he died. T'was awesome. =D

Btw, didn't mean that Muff's a n00b, far from that. He's by far the best HaloPC player I've seen use a gamepad. He pwned me quite a bit and it was indeed impressive... miss the days we gamed Muff, I do indeed ol' pal.

Btw folks, I save a lot of ol' halo programs on backup CDs cause I knew someday they could be of use again... I still have good ol' HaloSPY for HaloPC (2 versions! the latest and an older one), and the delaggonator's kicking around somewhere, and HaloSpyCE, and a few other timbits from back in the day. Anyone need them just give me the word and I'll see if I can get them hosted somewhere... have a pretty good idea where too. :)
