I'm pretty sure this problem is associated with the virus currently plaguing my computer, but whatever. I can't sign into Xfire, because whenever I try, Xfire starts downloading the automatic update. When it's finished downloading, nothing happens. If I try to log in again, it won't work.

Could somebody please help?

Okay, I downloaded it and a shedload of files appeared when I scanned it. It's hard to tell which ones I should delete, because I'm pretty sure most of these files are just harmless.

Or google.

It's a real -blam!- trying to get rid of viruses/spyware manually. I downloaded a bunch of programs that identify them, and they want you to sign up and pay before the program will delete them. So I just copied down all the filenames of the spyware and deleted them from the foldiers. Then I had to go registry diving to delete the registry keys. Oi, talk about a waste of time.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

that used to happen to me. do a couple virus scans.I recomend:Advanced Syware Remover its free and you can find it at download.com. if you do find something then try to remove it. and you cant remove then i myself would reformat that drive(hopefully it isnt the windows drive) other then that, I myself would have a reformation party and reformate the crap out of all my drives (making the one with windows in it last). either then that i dont know what to say.

Reality is just a crutch for people who can't cope with drugs.
X-Fire: new420

This is what I do. Open Internet Explorer, go to http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/. Click 'Scan Your PC'. Opens a popup so dont block it. Click 'Check Now!' Fill in and click "Scan Now!'. Give it a couple minutes for your first time, then after its done click 'Local Disks' and let it scan. After its done, run Killbox and manually delete all the files that show up in the log. First time might take a while, but if done on a regular basis, it wont take long at all for future deletions.

All in all, my computer may be crappy, but its virus free. :P

NOOOOOO, do not get norton. it's utter crap, it isnt even that effective and it eats your resources more than a virus will. i recommend NOD32 or kaspersky. they have the best detection rate and use the least resources.

Agreed.

Norton pretty much eats up alot of bandwidth, so it isn't worth the 40-50 bucks. I use Kaspersky, it's a really good program, I haven't been infected with a virus or spyware ever since I got it, and it blocks all network attacks, whether it be from a malicious site or a random bot hacker.

and also if you are having trouble with manually deleting the files, kim, start your computer in safe mode. to do that continually press F8 before the windows loading screen pops up when you start your computer. you cant go on the internet or anything like that in safe mode. post back here if any of these steps ppl are giving you won't work.
