Halo and you: tell us your story.
When I got my hands on Halo: Combat Evolved, after some time I had weekly LAN parties at my house, just two xboxes with 8 friends, sometimes at a friends house. It was so much fun, it soon became a weekly tradition, and they almost always went till the next day. It was the reason I eagerly waited for friday, the reason I dident care about school work, something to look foward to. Then came the Halo 2 announcment, and so the LANs contiuned, all wile counting down the days till Halo 2 release. When that day finaly came, I excitely poped the CD in, and started up single player, trying to slowly pace through the game, to beat it over a period of two weeks. That friday, I had my first Halo 2 LAN party, it was a blast, sadly, it was my last Halo 2 LAN party.
After that, most of my friends just got bored of Halo, I dont know why, but when the time came to set up the second LAN for Halo 2, they just stoped. So myself and two other friends moved on to the next best thing, Xbox Live. I played countless hours with my two friends, and random people online, and made some pretty good online buddies. Then after about a year (before the stat reset) my friends just stoped playing, so it was me alone, still playing Halo 2 for about a year. Then came the 360, I droped Halo for a bit to try out new games, then a few months later I went back to Halo 2. It was a mess, I sucked with the new controller, my clan was departed, my online buddies had finished with XBL, but I continued on for about a month, then I just stoped. Maybe it was just getting fed up with the cheaters, the jerks, the few gameplay flaws, or annoyinces, but I just stoped. I moved on to other games, mainly oblivion, but I still dident game as much as I did with Halo 2.
Then some of my other friends, called up and asked if I had a system link cable so they could try out counter strike on xbox with two players. Of course after all those years of LAN, I had a cable ready for use. I told them to come over and we could set it all up. We got all set up but the 360 couldent run counter strike, so I offered to put in some Halo 2, so we did, and played a little of 2 on 2, across the xbox and 360. Then for old times sake, I proposed some Halo: Combat Evolved, we poped it in and Had a blast, it lasted almost all day. When everyone had to leave, after having a great time, I offered to do it agian sometime soon. We started school in a week or so, and on the first day, I told them we should have another little LAN that friday. On that friday (last friday) they confirmed, as always the last moment, so we went to my house to set up for the LAN, and was supposed to be a small little LAN, evolved to an all day thing, complete with crappy pizza and a Tijuana Mama eating. We went back to Halo 2 for a single game, and then decided agiants it, and back to Halo: Combat Evolved.
So, the first friday of the new school year, I got together with some friends, new to the whole LAN scene, plus an oldie form the previous years of my LAN traditions, for another party, and we had an absoulte blast. I am currently planning for another LAN next friday, hopefully with some more people, new and old to the carnage and fun, along with nasty pizza and soda, that is my LAN parties, my tradition.
Yeah, its long, but I'm am kinda bored, and just wanted to sum up pretty much every thing that resulted for me falling in love with Halo. I am glad it happened.
