I know a lot of these go on around here, but I'm serious about my money.

I'm stuck with PCI. I have no PCI-E, or AGP slots on my motherboard. However, they have the Radeon X1300 for PCI. I was wondering if anyone knew this to be a good card. The only constraints I'm worried about are the performance bottlenecks due to it being on PCI, I really like the fact that it can support Pixel Shader 3.0.
This card is nice and affordable, but would having PCI make that big of an influence on my speed? I might try to play other PC games, but Halo and Half-Life 2 are the only things that would consider running at the moment. Oh, and maybe F.E.A.R. when it gets cheap.

Yes the X1300 is decent enough to go with your PCI.

May I also suggest the Nvidia GeForce FX5500? It is also for PCI, I'm planning to get it once I get enough money.

may you never suggest that card. Sorry, but it's utter trash.

The FX 5500 isn't complete trash. I used to be able to run Halo at locked 30 FPS with everything maxed out, except for specular. Half-Life, however, won't run nearly as well, probably sticking around the teens for frame rates. Sorry. :P

But yeah, the GeForce 6200 OC is awesome too. That's what I have now. It runs it with specular at 30 FPS. But like Widowmaker once said, the X1300 is a little ahead of the 6200. So one of those would work.

Good luck!

Ah, the 6200, I hate that, I have it on my desktop. It'll only run MOTOGP 3 and Halo.

On my laptop, I have teh Nvidia 7900 GS Go. It works wonders, and lets me run every game on Maxed detail and with barely any lag. I think the 7900 for the desktop is PCI, and if you have the money(Like $200), I'd get it.

Nope, the 7900 is PCI-E only.

I was close to getting the 5500, but I realized I could run the same way on my integrated. Right now, I can get full 30 fps on 640x480 with Specular and Shadows. I'm looking for something that will run Halo on max settings, which I think the x1300 should do, regardless of the fact that it's for the PCI bus.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

640x480? I with 800x600 it just looks alittle bit better.

staticx is correct, I generally use nvidia, but as you know, nvidia itself defies the existence of the FX series. In short, see FX, turn away. That generation was the one that allowed ATi to catch up and finally beat Nvidia for a while anyway.

So it's the X1300 unanimously, right?

Yes I highly recommend it. Go to Circuit City and get the VisionTek X1300 PCI. Myself, being in Canada, it's a whole diffrent story.......
