Hi folks,

in the last 24 hours, I worked on a small Tool I programmed for myself. It's totally HALO2 and it shows a Countdown Timer how long it takes until HALO2 ships, and the latest News I found on the NET.

It rocks and I think it supports the community as well.

If you want to check it out, just download it here: Snipped. -M

It's an installer including uninstaller etc. Just enjoy it!!!

Well that is good to know.
Did you happen to notice what type of virus it was.

When I downloaded it, then ran the program, it worked fine, it showed the screen. But it shows "loading" where the countdown should be then never-ending pop-ups comes up. (Like, new ones consistently pop up. You can't exit out of them.)

That is not true!!! There is no VIRUS in it!!! This is a serieux tool I wrote by myself. I have no intention to distribute any virus. Especially not here on bungie.net. I just try to contribute my knowledge and my passion to the community. Hope that anyone from bungie reads this and checks this case.

If you download it, enjoy it. If you don't because someone tells it's a virus, it's ok, as long that you think it by yourself and not to get confused by someone telling lies.

Nope, when you run the program itself, not IE. You have to download it first, and then install it.

Actually, its not really a virus, its more of a really annoying error. An error pop up continues to show and never stops until like 10 minutes later.

It is just a error in the programming. You need to fix it polysign.
To stop it just use CTRL+ALt+DEL and then close the program. There done.

I deleted the link to it because of the virus scare, but I'm keeping the thread unlocked because others say it was just faulty programming. When you've fixed the bugs, feel free to post another link.

I haven't any problems with this tool. And no, it doesn't have a virus. I think, spartan00029 must be stupid. :/

Ok, I know the bug and I'm trying to fix it right now. The error message is coming up because I'm from europe/luxemburg and we use another Date Format to describe a date. We use 11.09.2004 for the 9th November. So you might use another format so the error pop up.

I'm sorry for that bug. I'm gonna fix it, but next time Spartan should just shut up, or juste report that there might be a bug in the programm. Not to yell out it might be a VIRUS. That was really stupid.

if it helps, I'm gonna post the updated version later in a new thread, so it could be useful to lock/delete this one.

and thanks to those who helped me out finding the bug.

Ok, but people could get scared if they read the second paragraph posted by Spartan and so noone gonna try the tool. I don't know how to tell this in english, but in german it's called "Rufschädigung" and people get to jail for that.

O contrare, I am not stupid. In fact I am very much the opposite. Please, do not flame people. I saw what I saw, maybe it only happened to me. It said 9/11/2001 or something, then had stuff in a foreign language.

Acordingly to babelfish (a translation software) "Rufschädigung" is "Call damage".

Edit: If you read the rest here you will see that it is a programming error with the date format.
And that foreign language is german.
